Converting Xvid and DivX into WMV

Does anyone know of a surefire (and quick, free and easy) way to do this conversion? For whatever reason, be it drivers, software or hardware clashes, I can't open or use DivX files in Sony Vegas. Windows Media Player converts them but it takes hours, though it's my best bet at the moment. I found a program called Virtualdub that does it, but a 1-minute DivX clip is converted into a wmv that's 800Meg.
