To be honest I think this idea could be a goer even if only a few people came from this website. We have quite a loyal fanbase and good tie-ins with local colleges and the University.
Could people from this site type a reply to this thread to just say whether they are up for the idea please + one of the moderators could pm about the idea
It would be great to get Shane and actors from his productions down for the event for a Q +A or whatever because I am sure many people will have questions to ask
There would probably also be the chance to show a couple of shorts from budding filmakers from this site and to do something for the documentary you have been talking about

Have spoken to the management regarding this idea and am having a meeting on Monday, to provisionally talk about things
The basic idea is to have a day of screenings on a saturday in the new year and hopefully we can get Shane and perhaps members of his crew and casts along fo a Q+ A.
We should be ok to get 24/7, Romeo Brass, Once upon a time in the Midlands and Dead Man's Shoes shown and possibly TIE depending on the release date.
I would appreciate it if one of the moderators could ask Shane about this idea or possibly the man himself could pm me (also if any of his cast members are interested)
The idea is to celebrate Shane's work and to giva an education in British movie making

I don't know if I would want to sit through 4 or 5 films in row, regardless of what they were.
Is that just me?

Yeah would probably show the most popular films and perhaps have more space for some shorts and some sort of Q +A.
There would also be a bar and food
Obviously would like the opinions of the meadows maniacs because if they arent up for it, no-one will be!

I think all films should be shown, but we dont have to go see them all if you get me? like while some are showing we could be having drinks and stuff.

What would make this idea pure gold would be getting hold of Smalltime for a screening. For so many people, it would be a Shane Meadows film they have not seen! It was released theatrically complete with Shane's short film, Where's the Money, Ronnie?... so there must be 35mm prints of it about.
I reckon Smalltime and Romeo Brass or Twentyfour Seven!

Agreed with Large....Don shoot this down.
Every year I go to the Dead By Dawn Horror Film Festival in Edinburgh. Its a weekend of watching Horror films and on the Saturday night is the all-nighter. Films start at 12p.m. on Saturday afternoon and finish at 10a.m. Sunday morning! There are little gaps of half an hour-40 minutes in between and it all works nicely.
Maybe some people just dont have the stamina....

I think Ryd has it spot on, you dont have to watch all the films, theres a bar for fooks sake!
Personally id love to see them all. Its an excellent idea
If you think a horror festivals bad, I sat through a day of Troma films. Llyod Kaufman was there, got to meet him and the Q&A was interesting to say the least.
