Hey all... I've just put the final touches to my latest short film, Rocket To Mars.
Come peek it here:
It's basically a melody on friendships, and the difficulties of providing care for someone who has suffered a nervous breakdown. Comments always welcome guys.
Cheers. Tom.

Hi Tom, interesting and very dificult choice of topic for a short. Brilliant acting and scenes in the film. Also it was touching and sad but yet funny in places which worked well and the music fitted nicely. Excellent work and could easily be a competition contender. I am a little mixed up about the very end I have my own perception but would be interesting to hear yours.
P.s the movie stopped at 08:29 minutes rather than 08:39 I didnt miss anything did I?

Cheers mate. No - you didn't miss anything. I just uploaded it with the new version of iMovie, which sends it straight to YouTube. Thing is, it sent it with a bloody great pause before the end credits. 8:29 is the end for sure.

Would echo what DazzaB has said really enjoyed this. Well done it's a lovely short.
My favourite moment is when the two guys are sitting and Brian says that he likes how Davids girlfriend smells. The way David responds with the little laugh and smile is perfect.
It's only when two people are really close that you can laugh at each other like that, but it's done with such tenderness that in that one moment you get to see so much about their relationship, the situation they are in and Dave's charcter.
I think that it's little details like that, that make things truthfull and interesting.
Thanks for posting it.

Most appreciated It was written in 30 mins during a coffee stop in Starbucks one morning. Just a little idea that I wanted to explore. Glad people are responding to it well. It's off on the festival trail soon... So fingers crossed. Cheers - Tom.

Wow. I can't believe i didn't see this when you first posted! I usually make a point of watching all the films posted up here!
Wow again man. This film is fucking excellent. I loved it. I really felt for the main character. It was spot on mate, people like brian are amusing, its true. But it's also heartbreaking, and hard seeing someone your close to like that. Very real. This film deserves to win a Festival mate, enter it! I'd love to own a copy also.

It really is the little film that has gotten tucked away amongst everything else I'm doing. I've got HUGE things happening at present, but maybe I should just sling it off to a fest eh? Big kudos to Neal Craig who plays Brian though. He made my job easy (both on screen and off). And we shot it in a couple of days, so that's always good. Oh, and the music by Jonny Hill, aka Wanato, appears on his latest album release. He's a good soul indeed. You can hear his stuff on www.myspace.com/wanato - Give him a buzz if you ever need music, he's a genius and he's building his portfolio, so is making music for nothing right now. Jonny also did the music for Icharus Broken and Colin Can't Be Killed.

First time I've seen this. The portrayal of mental illness didn't exactly sit right with me. It's all a bit sentimental. Pun not intended.

Well, we were toying with the idea of making the sequel.
It would reveal what actually happened to Brian, and would centre on him running naked down the local high-street, flinging his own poo at the McDonald's window whilst laughing hysterically.
Not too sure if that would be a heinous take on the very real issues of mental health?
But as a matter of fact, I should say, this is based on someone I knew and the relationship he had with a friend. And it really was like this - a very quiet man who could still connect but had moments of delusion.
