share/pitch ideas I'd be happy to read and give feedback on anyones work and I'd love for anyone else who's up for it to have a look at mine.

to kick things off
I don't usually, but I had to write a synopsis for a funding application, If anyone's up for having a look at the script let me know
SCUMBAG A 15-minute realist drama set in Leeds about a homeless recovering alcoholic Shep (late 50’s) who’s bullied daily by James Pitchford a twenty something silver spoon fed alpha male businessman. With help from his sixty-year-old charismatic best mate Sweed, a one-man band, Shep learns that in order to gain respect from others he must first respect himself.

Hi Gareth,
Yeah I'd also like to read it. Tell me what your credits are, have you had any short films made?
Cheers.

i'll have a look at it. I have a couple of features which i penned and one of them is to be made next summer, its called fearless men and its about twoo guys who escape from a secure mental hospital, they think they are living in the wild west and they head to a small village were a charity wild west weekend is in full swing. to say they get confused is a tragic understatement. its 80 pages though but if anyone wants to take a peek!

Am pretty chuffed at the moment - one of my scripts has just won through in EM Media's DV Shorts competition and is set to go into development. Got two meetings with them next week so will know more then!!

Hi Gareth, thanks for sending the script through. Read it and thought it was really good. I think it needs a bit of a dialogue polish in places and the very, very end didn't really ring true.
***SPOILERS***
Personally, instead of having him join the busking on a brand new guitar I'd have him just watching his mate and clapping along (clearly happy/in a better place than he was before). Suddenly to appear with this brand new guitar and be playing seems a bit unrealistic, maybe if you allude to the fact that he can play but hasn't because of the drink etc. then it will ring truer.
All in all, really good though. Nice one.

your definatly right! if he's clapping along with the rest of the punters it'll say alot more about his self esteem and its alot subtler!!!
cheers for havin a read! is there any chance of havin a look at the EM Media script you mentioned above? am i right in thinking their your local funding body? like North West Vision up here, I think i was going to apply to a similar/the same scheme, is the budget up to 12grand?

Hi Mate,
No worries - also, if he doesn't already, get Pitchford to call him a scumbag - always nice to have the title of your film in the dialogue somewhere.
Yes, EM Media is the regional screen agency (This is England, Dog Altogether, Control, Anita and Me). To be honest, I sent them two scripts a 15 minute one and a 25 minute one and I'm not sure which one they've gone with. I've got a meeting with them tomorrow and my first development meeting on Friday, so I'll know more in the next few days.
Once I know which script they want to develop, and I'm certain that there's no clauses which say I can't show it around. then by all means you can have a read. I'm just finishing a first draft of a 60-page script that is turning out to be better than the two I entered this competition with.
As for budgets, I think they were up to £20 000 but not sure.

Well, I'm presently adapting a short story I wrote earlier in the month into a short film - Gary, the Smartest Guy in the World. The story itself resides on my MySpace blog - www.myspace.com/bringitgiveitfilms But the synopsis is basically Gary is without question the single smartest person on Earth. But it's ruined his life, and since he's suffered a stroke, his left arm is pretty much useless. This is the last days of Gary as a writer shares time uncovering the the mind of a genius, but the soul of a damaged man. It's going be shot before the end of the year with Tom Sawyer (Ralph in Icharus Broken). Looking good to go before I knuckle down for the new feature screenplay. Tom.

Ok, well I've read Wiggy's "Fearless Men" script, draft 2. Interesting.. the concept of a supposedly "mad" cowboy escaping to a village full of cowboys I think is a good one. I haven't had time to read the next draft yet, but will try to do so soon.

yeah, thanks richk for the inspiration you gave me with your breakdown of the script. i know i said so in an e-mail but i think it is good to do so on a public forum aso. i feel very happy with it now which is unusual, even though a script is never finished until filming is wrapped.
just one thing i'd like to say to you richk is i first did the script with filming it in mind so kept it fairly simple but now i'm not sure if it could be done with no budget, oh well!
