Hey guys. I just wanted to put the announcement out on here - you're some of the first to know - but my agent just signed a deal to Vanguard Cinema in the USA and Canada for DVD distribution of Icharus Broken!
As well as showing support and rifling for news on Shane's movies, I've found some of the coolest and film savvy people out there by using this forum. From day dot, you've all been very supportive of my stuff and the things I'm trying to do with it, and I guess shooting a film for £1,600 and getting it to distribution was always gonna be a hard sell. But, as of yesterday, we're getting a DVD run after the theatrical screenings, so yes, I'm made up.
Far from rich (but then, that's not what this is all about), and still a long way to go, but I can puff out my chest and say, 'I did what I set out to achieve...' And I hope all you other film makers are gonna do it as well. There's definitely some talent sifting through the forum...
Still no news on a UK distributor (which is mad when you think the film was shot in Derby!), but the agent is still working on that. But the film should be available through WalMart and Blockbuster in the States, and Amazon all over the world.
I'll let you know the details of the release, but in the meanwhile, well, I think I need to celebrate. Cup of tea anyone?
Cheers - Tom.

any chance of a brief synopsis? Sure thing... 'Told in a fractured time line, Icharus Broken is a brave look at the collision of love and the search for happiness streaming across intertwining lives. After four years in prison, Bobby is released into a world he no longer recognises. His faith has been destroyed, his ex-girlfriend Penny, is using drugs and his daughter is with a foster family. Samantha, Bobby's sister, takes him in. She also is in the process of rebuilding her life after a disastrous relationship, and coming to terms that love hurts. Penny can't remember a thing. As she spends a day in a house with Ralph, she tries to establish what her vague feelings mean. When Dawn falls ill, she can't even bring herself to tell Gerry. And when Gerry starts to get to know Samantha, he can't bring himself to tell Dawn that he has fallen out of love with her. Fate will soon bring these people together in a gut-wrenching conclusion that makes you question all you know of love, life and death.' Oh, and The Daily Mail columnist, Baz Bamigboye, called it 'an intense drama'. You can see a trailer for the film at my website, www.bringitgiveitfilms.comCheers again everyone.

Nice one. Cheers for that. I think that Rocket may actually be going on the DVD. Nothing in stone yet, I have to discuss that with the the distributors, but I think it'd sit well on with Icharus, so we'll see what happens. Cheers.

Made up for you pal, well done. How long did it take to shoot and what did you shoot on? If you don't mind me asking! We shot in 8 hard days on HDV. Everyone was paid (spanked a credit card to the tune of £1,600), and since then, well, the film's been knocking down doors. Hard graft, but totally worth it, and soon, maybe, I might have a UK distributor. Maybe. It's getting there... Thanks for all the cool responses. Just feels good to be doing what I set out to do all those years ago... Ha ha.

Was it 8 days back to back or over a long period?
Just trying to get an idea of how much more work is involved in a feature compared with a short...

It was eight straight days. In truth, a feature and a short basically take as long as you have, and there aren't really any rules to the time scale. As long as you have the right prep, a good script and the right team, it can be shot in no time. A friend of mine has just shot a ninety-minute film in one take, so in theory, it was a one-day shoot for an entire feature film. It's pretty brave, and he got a few names in the film, so it was a gamble that seems like it may have worked.
What are you working on at present?
