Hi guys
Just thought I'd mention some new editing software I have purchased recently. Its Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum edition. I have been using Vegas for ages but decided to buy a proper genuine version and this has been brilliant. There are so many effects, grading options, etc but best of all was the unbelievable price £34.99 from Amazon.
If you use final cut pro or adobe then it probably isnt going to be for you but if you are using moviemaker or pinnacle then invest in this as the quality is 1,000 times better and its really user friendly.

Thats an arse. When i bought it I think it did say something about a special offer. I find the sfotware a godsend, it will be interesting to see how my next film looks being shot on a Sony VX2100 (when it finally arrives) instead of a £120 sony handycam and now edited through a decent copy of Vegas.

did you decide to get a decent shotgune mike aswell dazza?
just looked at the camera specs you might regret not going for one with XLR inputs, I overlooked them when I got my Xm1 and sold it shortly after, you'll have to invest in a DAT recorder otherwise
you might wanna really consider canceling that order and getting a camera with XLR ins!

Hi guys, yea i went for the VX2100 in the end. I have looked into the XLR situation prior to buying and there are meant to be some pretty good XLR adapters on the market, this was just one I found. Hopefully this will sort the situation, the adapter plugs into the mic input jack then allow you to connect XLR microphones. Camera is due to arrive tomorrow ;D www.studio1productions.com/xlr-bp.htm

With regards to XLR connections.... here at work we have plenty of cables that go from XLR on one end, to audio jack at the other end. Not mini-jack, but then converters are easy to find. So basically, the cables are out there somewhere. I'll see if I can find out our supplier of stuff.

Cheers Dave. on first impressions the camera is superb. I couldnt find a bad review about it prior to buying it. Its advised to purchase a beachtek box which converts jack to XLR if you want to. There not cheap so i'm gonna hold of at the moment and try like you say looking at other options, the internal mic on the camera can be turned off and switched to an external also.
I have three films waiting to be made and still a couple of other scripts written hopefully one will get shot over the weekend weather permitting. I have a script from Salvador to make, then two of my own Morris a story of hope which is a sentimental comedy and I have just finsihed writing a comedy explorer film called Colin Ludmead Investigates the curse of the gargantun gorilla. I also have a revenge thriller in its first draft and a horror that needs finishing. Finally I also should have some new actors aboard soon courtesy of the performing arts department at the local college.
