Don't Snatch, It's No Nice

4 page script - social horror

Two boys play cowboys and indians in the back garden but the selfishness of one boy leads to the vengeance of the other. A powerful social comment on childhood. Children see good and evil, happy feelings and sad feeling, children know vengeance but do they know consequence? A short story that deals with all these issues.

Ignorance is Bliss

4 page script - social drama

When Gerry leaves his girlfriend and friends waiting outside the toilets for him, little does he know that the events unfolding inside and outside the washrooms will ultimately save his life but condemn the rest to death. A short story with minimum dialogue and maximum impact.

Glass Eye

7 page script - Rom/Com/Horror

A bored writer gets more than he bargained for when the woman in the flat upstairs looses her glass eye but was it all just a way to lure him up for kinky sex? A story about consequence and lust, no matter how off-putting it may be!

The Longing to Touch

6 page script (no dialogue) - drama

Two strangers on a bus find themselves drawn to one another through the need for physical contact in the urban city. A story about loneliness and longing in the space of a short bus journey.

I wouldnt mind making 'Don't Snatch, It's No Nice' sometime, I know someone with two kids so it'd be good to improvise with them, I can see exactly how Id shoot it

No worries about ignorance, my mate wants that one. He likes no dialogue and tension, I think he'll make a good film out of it.

Don't snatch is up for grabs if you'd like to seriously think about doing it. I prefer Dont snatch..

I read Ignorance. Really like it, can see why your mate snapped it up! I've got a few ideas, I wouldn't say they are improvements, but other ways it could go: if the audience didn't see the guns. The emphasis would be more on the funny weirdo aspect, although to be honest I think it works better the way it is. We still get the comedy, but we also fear for Gerry because the fucker outside has got a load of guns. I can think of loads of ways of developing it further, but fuck, it works great the way it is for a five minute film. It's something that I could see being the opening scene of a feature as well, if the short went well.

I scanned through Longing. I don't think it reads as well as Ignorance, it's quite "boring" on the page. Sorry if that sounds like a knock, when reading it I can imagine how it would be much more engaging on-screen with the way all the little moments are shot. The ending is really nice too. It feels to me like it could be done well as a music video - you'd probably lose the "bus sound" bits (though they could just take up 5-10 seconds before and after the song). I wouldn't mind having a crack at it, but it's very similar in some ways to parts of Dirty Egg.

Will let you know what I think of the other two when I've read them.

Hey mate, thanks very much for the feedback, I really appreciate the fact that 1. you took the time to do it and 2. you give good detail and ideas.

I think you hit the nail with Ignorance, I want it to be a short but the kind that feels like its part of something bigger, a snippet from a film, something that has the audience asking questions. Glad you enjoyed it.

With longing, that's cool, I know what you mean.. its all in the subtlety and to be completely honest I never thought of it as a music video but it would totally work and I think quite well... with the idea there of the bus sounds drowning out when the song starts as the girl gets on the bus! Brilliant! It may be similar to your other stuff but then anyway, let me know. If you fancy doing it, that be great.
