Hi. Wonder if anyone can help. (please. I'm about to go into melt down)
I've got a script that I've done in Final Draft 5 - now I know that this program only lets you attach a title page if you're printing out, which seems pretty stupid to me.
What I need to do, is get my script into pdf format with a title page attached. What I'm doing is converting my script from final draft file to .txt with layout and then converting this to pdf. But whenever I try and use the first page of my script as a title page (ie, knock to text down to start on p2) when it goes into pdf the formatting's all over the place.
How does everyone else manage? I really need a title page on my script in pdf format as script is going to UK Film Council next Friday for DV Shorts commissioning.
Can anyone suggest anything or even suggest a screenwriting program that lets you attach you title page from the off? Would really appreciate any help that's out there.

If you go into Document dropdown, there is a title page there. You edit it, close it and then save in your script. When I get home I can tell you in more detail.

Thanks, I'd appreciate that. I've done my title page in the dropdown but can't figure out how to attach it so that it part of the electronic version of the script.

The title page only exists in it's own separate window - it'll print out but won't seem to attach in electronic form.
Don't get the option to save in adobe acrobat!! What screenwriting software do the other writers on this forum use?

You need to open up the title page in document drop down. Write the title page out. In the top right hand corner there will be two x buttons to close the windows. Close the lower one. Now you are back in the script. Save your file as a final draft file and then save your file again as a pdf. That should be it. Or it is for me. It took me ages to work it out, I went through the help options.
Let me know if that works

No mate, not working.
I open up the title page under document, type it out then click to x to shut it and I'm back in the script. Then, there's no op[tion to save as pdf in Final Draft 5 I have to save as text with layout and then convert this to pdf with a separate program I downloaded off the net but the title page is never a part of the document - totally automonous in Final Draft.
Can't figure it out.

No worries - thanks for trying. What program do you use to write scripts?

Roger, I use a program called Sophocles which I find great for the writing itself but it doesn't convert to PDF. What I use for that is a program called CeltX, www.celtx.com . Copying into CeltX isn't ideal, it normally requires a bit of messing about anywhere you've got brackets. But on a short script, that's not too big a headache. I'd say give it a go. It does title pages as the PDF. Alternatively, find a PDF conversion program that lets you convert two separate documents into one PDF, so you can attach the title page without fucking up the script.

CeltX is free by the way, which is always a good thing. Sophocles isn't, unless you go the dirty hacking route.
Why do people like FD, by the way? Is it just because it's the industry standard? I'm not a fan of it at all. Much prefer Sophocles.

I must admit - I love Final Draft but I find version 5 very frustrating when it comes to having a complete electronic version of your script with title page - you just can't do it.
Just paif £59.95 to upgrade my Final Draft 5 to version 7 - now I should be able to convert directly to pdf with title page. Appreciate everyone's help with this.
I've heard movie magic screenwriter's a good one.
