May I just say that I came up with The Blair Witch Project years before it appeared.
That's true too, just ask my colleagues at the Robins Cinema at the time! ;D I don't doubt that loads of people had that idea all over the world.. I'm just saying.

Tom, Familia Rodante is an amazing little film about a family in Argentina who all pile into a motorhome for a 1200 mile journey to a wedding. An entire family like sardines in this tiny space, it's lovely. Hot, dusty, and of course things all come to a head. Well, separately to this, I'm working on something involving three french motorhomes visiting England on a driving holiday. Nice chance to do an entente cordial examination, to look at Britain through the eyes of foreigners etc.. without resorting to stereotype. Anyway, finding and watching Familia Rodante was a real boost, very inspiring.. similar to the french motorhome thing but completely different too - it just made me realise you could in fact come up with a dinosaur DNA in amber script and still make something successful, regardless of the existence of Jurassic Park.

Why does it have to cost a lot of money to get a work copyrighted salv, it's only about 30 quid. And it's sound advice mate, take it or leave it, don't be so nieve as to not think it's good advice. And to say that the only people that worry about copyright are bitter people who don't have deals is totally inaccurate. The whole industry runs on copyright mate. Think of it as taking insurance out. Try telling my auntie's friend that, someone else got a deal out of her work. She's bitter but that's cos she got robbed, not because she couldn't get a deal. So would you be.

Getting your work copyrighted actually stops you from being paranoid, you can show it to anyone then.

Good news and bad news. Well, mostly bad news from my perspective. A mate of mine met some blokes about some funding for one of his films. I asked him nicely to kind of crowbar an idea of mine into the conversation.
Things didn't go that badly for him so he kept with his own feature. Well done him. £2,500 for first option.
EDIT: Oh, Lord. He mentioned it as a future project. And my name.

I've written a very rough draft of a script and I was wondering if anyone on this forum could take a look at it? I don't dare let anyone I know see it, as I am embarrassed, and you folks sound like nice people with a knowledge of films, so I was wondering if someone could take a look and give me some feedback? Feel free to let me know if it is rubbish.

It's the characters name.... Penrith Davidson I needed a name I thought was unique, plus its a little homage to Withnail and I and the reason he is called Penrith is explained in the script.... ... No Uncle Monty in there unfortunately (for all you Withnail fans) What a great film to take inspiration from... but however much uncle monty makes me laugh... he still scares the bejesus outta me! ...id love to read your script if your willing to send. i'm also a script writer, im working on a feature at the moment but i'm currently focusing on uni and a few short scripts so it wont be done for a while... ive hardly even started and its already a challenge!! ...and to finish this post in a Withnail fashion... God, I really can't do anything more than 4 pages a day on my script. I'm on a proper slide.
