Hi everyone!
I'm sitting way up here in Canada, waiting for This is England. It's in production now, so that means if it ever hits Canada, it's going to be a LONG time from now, but I'm still excited!
As a Brit living in Canuckville, I love british film, and I love Shane Meadows. This movie is sure to be great, especially since one of my favourite actors Stephen Graham makes an appearance in it!
This is my first, and hopefully not my last post on this forum, but I'm glad to be here.
Shane, you kick ass....even way up here.
My love to the UK!
Amber...

Thanks MissDonk. I grew up in England, and my family is still over there, so of course I have a great love of UK cinema. The American crap is so tired, us Brits are the masters of film!
And, tell your sister she has a great name LOL

Hello Foxy.... You're the second ex-pat to have found their way to the site (the other residing in Australia).
What is the general awareness level of Shane's films in Cananda? I'm sure someone once metioned that his most well known film in the US is Once Upon a Time in the Midlands (probably due to the cast?), so wondering if it was a similar situation where you are.
You're website looks interesting by the way, I must have a read sometime. Is the blood soaked theme of the site a huge clue to the type of stuff you write?

Hi Dave, it's wonderful to be here! I actually lived in AU for a time before coming to Canada to go to school. I like it here, but my heart is in the UK. Sadly, Once Upon A Time.. is the only Meadows film my friends here in Canada have heard of, and when they've seen it, they don't know who Shane Meadows is. I've turned a few people on to his films, but they are so hard to find up here it's not funny! Most of the brit films that I get come straight from England, most Canadians will choose an American film over a Brit any time, which is too bad As far as my website, thank you very much! Yes, the blood is in theme with my writing. My first book is an action/suspense work dealing with the mob, among other elements. My second is a straight horror novel. I love the horror!

Hi Morell,
I could probably order them online, but my mum sends me DVDs and tapes of my favourite britcoms (sad...I know!) I can't stand most American TV, I love CSI, and the Sopranos, and alot of American cartoons....that's about it (God, now I sound like such a geek LOL)
Not much recognition of Paddy here, the only Brit/UK directors/filmmakers Canadians and Americans are interested in are chaps like Peter Jackson and Guy Ritchie (who I'm a big fan of) Most Americans go for the big Hollywood blockbusters over the smaller, better films from the UK. Even Brit actors like Paddy don't get much respect. The only British actors Canadians seem to be interested in are guys like Sean Connery and Peirce Brosnan I've talked to friends about it, and they say it's mainly because they can't understand us, or just don't get it....I don't get Canadians sometimes!

Peter Jackson the New Zealand hero? It's practically the same state of affairs in the UK, with the average punter always plumping for a big US production over anything else.

God, I've been in Canada too long to mash Peter Jackson in with the Brits, my apologies! Up here, if you're in England, Ireland, Scotland and yes, even AU and NZ....You're British! I'm loyal to my UK roots, choosing a lower budget Brit film over a big Hollywood one. I'd even rather see a Canadian Indie film over the American ones. I was having a discussion on another board about how Americans take British ideas and turn them into generic American shows and films (The Italian Job, the Britcom 'The Office' American Idol....I could go on!) It seems like when England is coming up with new and great ideas for films, the Americans are scraping around trying to steal everything they can, slapping an American label on it. I'm not bitter.....much

Mandy, from one of my favourite countries! You're right, they've done quite a job on French films too. Not to insult any Americans that might be on this board, but it seems like out of the thousands of filmmakers in the US, they couldn't have an original idea if one hit them square in the nuts. That's why it's difficult for me to sell my novels as screenplays, they want a comic book, or they want to remake a classic British/French/Italian/Anything film.....pathetic!
