alright gang, new member here, first post and all that. just thought i'd come and share a bit of info as i thought some might be interested. basically i e-mailed the programme co-ordinator of the stoke film theatre to ask if this is england would be getting shown there, and he replied saying that it would definatly be shown (subject to print availability)... which really made my day. its a pretty nice place and probably the best chance in the area to watch films that dont get shown in the multiplexes, and struggal to get distribution outside of the big cities, london, manchester etc. some of my recent faveourites were red road and london to brighton, the page turner and a new print of a film about the fench resistance called army in the shadows, which apparantly hadnt been available for years. its not a very big place and is tacked onto the side of a part of staffs uni, opposite stoke train station. so yeah, just thought you all might like to know. i wasnt sure of what the distribution will be like for TIE, so thought id spread the word on a cool place to watch it. but it wont be on till around may, june time, as the cinema is a bit behind on when it shows films. right ive blathered on enough. sorry this is all a bit long winded. ill post again when i hear any more specifics, date etc, but they have a website www.stokefilmtheatre.fsnet.co.ukwhere you can find out all you need to know and check out whats on at the moment. right then, cheers.

and also the name of what i was scoffing mercilessly when i was asked for a name on here. probably my faveourite biscuit actually. someone once said to me that they felt the tunnock wafer shared the same stale, gone off taste of the wagon wheel. crazy talk if you ask me. www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com/biscuits/previous.php3?item=33for any more info on a fine biscuit. (sorry this is off topic. blame fatself)

Oh yes! Those Tunnock's are great. They're the ones that say something like "5 million of these bars made and sold every week" when you open the wrapper?

Tunnock, who was it you emailed? John Manuel? I have business in Stoke myself (I'm technically a student there), but rarely go to the film theatre... I find that films often hit the place around the same time they come out on DVD. There have been a few I've wanted to see lately that have been on there but they don't work with the last train home to Brum.
I'm hoping T.I.E. comes to the Odeon at Festival Park as well.

alright mate, yeah, it was him. i sent it through the programme suggestion link on the website, but yeah, he was the one to reply. yeah im a student at keele, so im a bit lucky and can just get the 25 bus after the films. are you at university in birmingham then? yeah i know what you mean, programmes are a bit behind and normally coincide with the dvd release, but nothing beats watching them at a cinema if you can make the journey. and sometimes they get older stuff, like taxi driver a while back, which ive never had the chance to see on the big screen. (well, big ish. it aint massive) yeah definatly, the more cinemas its at the better. i think im back home in southend on the 28th so im hoping for it to be on at the odean there too, if not, londons not too far away.

No, I'm at university in Stoke - lectures are often in that very film theatre. But I live in Birmingham. And hardly ever make it to Stoke really.

I'd love to catch This Is England locally but I live in St Helens Merseyside and very much doubt the multiplex here would show it. They would much rather show the latest Wayans Brother or Epic, or Date movie spoof films.
No doubt I will end up having to trek to Liverpool or Manchester for 'special' Screenings in 'special' cinemas.
Damn Commercialism
