Hi All,
Just to let you know that the first very rough cut has been completed and the length is now just under 3hrs. Although it's still pretty rough, it is starting to take some kind of shape. The first 'official' rough cut is being shipped out to the financiers around December 20th. It should be running around 2hrs 40mins by then.
The other piece of good news. Is that I'm getting to meet a hero of mine on the 20th of December in (wait for it) Milan! His name is Ludovico Einaudi and he is the only classical musician that I listen to. I am hoping that he will score the film, it would be the perfect accompanyment to the Trojan Reggae and Oi!. If you haven't heard any of his stuff then check out 'Una Mattina'.
Anyway, back to the grindstone (until 'I'm a celeb, smack me in my moaning mardi fizzogg!)

All sounds good ..... looks like there'll be plenty of deleted scenes for the DVD then, a couple of hours' worth! Can't wait to see it all on screen

Cecil B. DeMullet!!! Is this your 'epic' Shane..? I reckon you should go for a six hour cut like Bertolucci's 1900. Then at least everyone will think you're stark raving mad.
btw hope you've not had too many problems clearing the Trojan stuff - my ex-manager (now Franz Ferdinand's manager) sorted out the last licensing deal with Trojan on the box-set reissues so he may be of some help. Oh, and I know it's not 'purist' Shane but you got to get some Special AKA/two-tone in there because life wouldn't have been the same without them. I was looking at one of the pics from the shoot that is in a cafe. Brought it all right back. Coincidentally I managed to get the complete 'Dance Craze' from emule yesterday. Mint. Especially 'Man AT C+A'. I made my 9-year old daughter sit and watch it and she loved Buster Bloodvessel to bits.
Plus I hope at least one of the characters in TIE has a 'tennis ball' with two lines. And I hope there's a 'school disco' scene (we all got thrown out of ours for pissing behind the big curtains in the school hall simply because the DJ wouldn't play any ska/northern soul).
Wish you could be more specific on when it's set cos I was a rude boy from 1979 (11 at the time) till 1982 when all the girlfriends got a 'burgundy Toner' free with Jackie (I remember all the lads in school had purple hair for two weeks except my mate Nic who had a bad reaction and his hair fell out completely lol). My skinhead days ended when we nicked the school minibus and drove to Doncaster with the intention of spending the afternoon at the Speedibar cafe, parking (of all places) outside the police station/crown court. We came back to the minibus about 4 hours later to find it still there but when we got back to Mexborough School the filth were waiting... but that's another movie.
Here's a tip - 2 hours 20 minutes. The perfect length (unless your name's John Holmes).
