Hello again. Sorry I've not been around much lately. Just thought I'd let you all know that we're back on track and have arrived once more at the final week of editing. It has been great working in Burton the last few weeks and I feel pretty pleased with how everything is going. I'm having a small screening in Burton tomorrow (monday) morning and if that goes well, we'll be done by friday.
Gary Bless.
Shandy.

C'mon!!!! When is the official launch/premiere?? Shane, you've joined the likes of Keats, Shakespeare and Dickens in that you are now an A Level Exam text!! (Or rather Dead Mans Shoes is.) And my students love it so much they are badgering me to find out when the new film is out and whether they can come to the premiere!!! So I need info... quick!

Shane matey glad to hear the editing is getting there, like Roo said when do u think we will get to see the latest masterpiece or will there even be a trailer for us to get a taster soonish? ? I'm wearing out my copies of ARFRB and DMS :-) have managed to convert 3 more people to Meadows fans though after they saw ARFRB this weekend! Can you also tell me what is one of those little train things that Knock knock, romeo and the dad are riding around in that you see in the directors diary on the dvd?

Our A Level students do an exam module on Contemporary British Film which looks at the British film industry over the last decade. So, with Dead Mans Shoes we looked at representations of the Midlands, drug society, the 'less abled' and social class as well as Shane's own experiences of creating, writing, filming editing and getting funding for the film - courtesy of the extras on the DVD!!! Our kids were comparing all of this to other Brit films such as Bullet Boy, Sexy Beast, Elizabeth, Bridget Jones and Shakespeare in Love.
All I can say is that it was the kids' fave topic and a dream to teach - so there are now at least 35 more Brit film addicts in the world and all loved DMS!!!! And want more of it!

Back when I did A-levels (proper A-levels, not this AS and A2 nonsense), we had a free choice media exam. One half was on a lad's mag of choice, one was on a film of choice. We had a notes booklet about a month before the exam, to make copious notes and take into the exam with us. I started writing in mine the night before, about "Highlander". I started writing about the magazine in the common room the next morning, about half an hour before going into the exam. In the end, I made up most of the contents of the November 2000 issue of "Maxim".
Got an A. Over the summer, I was slightly worried I'd fail for making it all up, but then I remembered that the person marking wasn't going to go through a stack of old Maxims to check accuracy.
