Well it's finally over. Just came back from the edit suite for the last time and shaved off me beard. After 8 and a half months, we have finally locked. I'm not sure if it beats the dead mans shoes record edit length, but it comes pretty close. Film has gone from the 150hrs of footage down to 97mins and we are finally heading into the grade and the soundmix to complete the film in the coming few weeks.
I also found out yesterday, that we have been selected to go into competition at the first ever Rome Film Festival at the begining of september and we are looking good for Toronto, San Sebastion, Venice, Dinard and Sundance. Though even if we get accepted in all of those, we will only pick 3-4 to go to as there are internal politics between competing festivals and we may have to drop one in favour of another.
Anyhow, I'm off upstairs to catch up on my Sky+ recordings and some shut-eye. Will get back into the site in the coming weeks and hopefully kick off the short film competition and get the website a makeover.
Hope everyone is well and I look forward to showing you all me 'newly born' in the not to distant future!
Shane. X.

Nice one mate, sounds like you're definitely on a winner! (and I don't mean the mardy-arsed restaurant rentagob who made the Death Wish films) 150hrs down to 97 mins eh? That's gonna be one cracker of a deleted scene

Great news Shane. Thought about doing any test screenings..? Please would you let us know if there are any planned that we may be able to attend.
p.s. Just about to watch John Shuttleworth's new film, 'It's Nice Up North' (the dvd just came through the door on the 2nd post - hooray!). I'll let y'all know whether it's a typical work of Shuttleworth genius later.

Said it before and I'll say it again - I really can't wait to see the flick, Shane. Any news on when the distributor is planning on unleashing the beast upon an unsuspecting British public?

p.s. Just about to watch John Shuttleworth's new film, 'It's Nice Up North' (the dvd just came through the door on the 2nd post - hooray!). I'll let y'all know whether it's a typical work of Shuttleworth genius later. Hey! I've got that... it's pretty good, but a bit sparse. It's too long for it's own good I thought. Not only that, but very little of it is scripted, and that also works against it I thought. He is far better when using scripted banter which seems real and domestic rather than ad-libbing. Having said all that, it's still pretty ace. Graham Fellows actually came to where I work and hosted a showing of It's Nice Up North. Sadly I wasn't there at the time! Back to the subject in hand: Great news on the edit! Looking forward to it immensely. I would imagine that the sound mix isn't a speedy process though, and as for the grading of the film, I have no idea what goes on! Is it to make sure that all shots in a scene match in lighting conditions and such like? I recall some mention of this on the Dead Man's Shoes DVD.

I'm gonna block out any cinema showings or trailers or special screenings (I beleive DMS got one in Edinburgh, not sure if its for the public or whatever)
When its out on dvd, thats when it'll be released, so I'm trying to stay calm and wait patiently, cant wait to see it, honestly, I've never fell victim to the hype of a Meadows movie, and I'm sure I wont with this, instead I'll be sitting grinning seeing the pics of the cast on set etc come to life. Fuckin hell I cant wait, never felt this way about seeing a film. The excitement is unbeleivable.
Also, I cant wait to see what subject you come up with for your next film Shane.
