This was in Tuesday's Uttoxeter Advertiser newspaper... "Film director Shane Meadows has spoken of his excitement at the opening of a new cinema in his home town. Uttoxeter-born Meadows is currently busy preparing for the release of his latest film, This Is England, but he said he hopes that Cinebowl marks a new era for the town. He said: "It's great for the town and especially the kids of the town. "I hope This Is England can be screened there when it's released." Set in summer 1983, This Is England follows the story of an 11-year-old boy called Shaun, who grows up in the north of England without a father. It focuses on his grieving at the loss of his father; through to his life as a skinhead thug who looks set to cause havoc in his community. According to the official fansite: www.shanemeadows.co.uk, the film is influenced my 33-year-old Meadow's own experiences of growing up in Uttoxeter. It says that Meadows used to want to become like the skinhead thugs he looked up to when he was a youngster. No release date has yet been set for This Is England."
