There is one scene in this is england where you have the NF gang (shaun, Combo et al) strutting towards the camera, walking away from a wall. I just wandered why you included this scene in the film because it looked a bit set up, as if you have gone "right line up against that wall and then walk to camera" .why would they be walking away from a wall?
When i watched dead Man's shoes all the scenes seemed to fit into place but this one stood out a bit in TIE.
Just looking for your comments on this particular scene, particularly since you had already included a 'strutting' scene earlier with the song 'Louie Louie'. i know you put a lot of thought into the editing

I see your point.. but I keep highlighting that actual shot as a particular favourite part of mine!
Thats when you first hear the Italian guys music isn't it?
Yeah I really like tht bit, because you get a real sense of 'the baddies' thinking they are doing the right thing, but obviously they're not. The innocent music is so powerful for that 'Evil' walk.

yeah mate I agree. Just think It would have looked more natural if they hadn't been walking away from a wall. Looked a bit set up. Still, the rest of the film is spot on.
Fair play to you for your performance aswell mate. think everyone involved should be proud of themselves

nah mate, i would have liked it better if that scene was more natural. i.e. coming out of someone's house/ a pub or something, rather than walking menacingly away from a wall in what looks like a dead end.

The whole thing about growing up in that time was that at times I felt larger than life, bigger than the state and like we were the most important people in the world, that shot reflects that/those feelings. I'm a refined arteest, not a social realist don't ya know!!!!!!!!
