Its funny how a lot of the arguments used by Combo in the 'drawing the line scene' could and probably would have been used by the far left at the time.
I.E The phony Falklands war, high unemployment, cheap wages undercutting the barganing power of the unions.
Its a parallel that is drawn by Bill Buford in his book 'Among the Thugs' where he is speaking to a National Front member who used to be a militant communist!
Anyway it certainly highlights the confusion that a lot of people felt at the time politically
