Well I was thinking if everyone posts theirs views on 'Disc 2' in here. -----------------------------------------------------
Ok, well I've kept quiet about the Dvd and stuff as I didn't see it being very fair to go on about it to you lot.. But Now its released!.. its another matter..
Basically, IMO the deleted scenes were interestin, but I'm not sure if they covered some of the stuff I'd liked to have seen there, Now with that said, All the rehearsal and behind the scenes stuff is phenominal. I'd say you get a real insight into the process took to create what Shane does.
I was fasicanted by the Essays and Bio's and the deserved attention given to the make-up and design departments.
Much of the other stuff is on the website.. but all the same a real must watch for all Meadows fans/Fans of British film.
You Guys are gona go Ape Shit!

I've made myself avert my eyes from your post. I want to discover the joys of disc 2 without fore-knowledge of the details.
I'll be back though!

That production department bit with all the hair cutting! It's like Full Metal Jacket... but more harrowing! Just when you think it can't get any worse, poor Jo Hartley's perm springs into action!
Really, really like the the behind the scenes rehearsals... especially the Combo's flat bit and the Sandhu's newsagent bit. Never seen such a substantial amount of this kind of thing on Shane's DVDs before, so it is really interesting to see a bit more of how it all comes together. At the end of the newsagent rehearsal, I thought it was an amazing touch when Combo asks to shake Mr Sandhu's hand. Really real I thought, you often get that sort of odd turn from nutters who know they have completely got the upper hand in a situation.

It's good, only thing that annoyed me was not being able to hear what Milky and Shaun were saying in the last deleted scene. Nothing big.

It's good, only thing that annoyed me was not being able to hear what Milky and Shaun were saying in the last deleted scene. Nothing big. Oh yeah. It's possible it wasn't audible anyway with music playing over it. It's good that we get to see Shane's Adidas wearing drug-dealer!

Chanel Cresswell and Danielle Watson spilling the beans on what Shane Meadows is 'really like' had me tears of laughter... Very funny! The hair chopping extra was eyewatering! I really felt for those girls...
Would've liked to have seen the Woody/Combo conversation outside café deleted scene.
Excellent!

Would've liked to have seen the Woody/Combo conversation outside café deleted scene. Coincidentally, that was the day I was there. I saw it live! I recall Woody asking about the towels that Banjo is holding, and Banjo and Combo explain about them going swimming (teaching Combo to swim). Combo then goes off on a racist rant aimed at Milky and asking Woody why he doesn't get rid of him.... gets tense.... then Combo does the old thing of "I'm only messing with ya.... you're a good man Woods for not selling Milky out"... along those lines. At the time I didn't have a clue where it would fit in the film, but now knowing that it would follow the previous night scene where Combo first turns up, I can see how it would have worked, but if it had been included it would have made Combo feel slightly different perhaps.

Cheers Dave!
I suppose it might have made the dénouement less surprising if it had have been included. Combo's attitude towards Milky was never clearcut in the film. Even after the climax...

Now seen all the DVD has to offer (well, how can I claim to run a Shane Meadows site if I don't get it watched!)....
The cast interviews bit contains some great stuff. Funniest of all is the inclusion of the fabled 'helicopter theft' back-story. There is an improv rehearsal of Woody and Combo trying to come up with a crime that doesn't sound as poncey as stealing a helicopter so he has something 'hard' to brag about. "What about we did a raid on a...errr... cattery?"
Also shows some of the tough mind-games used on Tomo to get his natural reactions. I was just wondering what Tomo's reaction was when it was all over and it was revealed that it was all faked?
