So I finally picked this up now it's been released over here...
Amazing, awesome, little film this with absolutely perfect performances by every single actor. I was genuinely moved by the powerful ending and how all the themes were wrapped up into it at once...
Anyway the wife grew up in Nottingham and was trying to recognize some of the locations which looked very familiar. Were some scenes shot around Little John's Walk or St. Annes?'
Anyone have a bit of info on the actual locations that were used?

YEAH WE FILMED QUITE A BIT OF T.I.E IN ST.ANNES (SHAUNS HOUSE, COMBOS FLAT ETC) DONT KNOW THE NAME OF ANY OTHER AREAS THOUGH BEST GETTING KES ON THAT BEING A NOTTS LOCAL.

Ok this is a trip... That's got to be the underpass right there in the Google snapshot where it says Church St, right? When I first saw that subway in the film I immediately thought I recognized it but I thought to myself nah, no way of all the places in Nottingham this could be the same place... Me and the wife lived right there in Abbey Court, one of the block of flats just north of it, and walked under that very same little underpass countless times on the way to the shops...  You can see the high rise flats in your Church Square #2 photo looming behind the precinct.. farm1.static.flickr.com/163/401154596_2825f0351d.jpg?v=0I also can't believe that's the very same shopping centre we used to go to all the time - somehow places on films take on a different quality making something that's been under your very nose for years look like some other place... I'm guessing you guys had to replace the signage on the shop fronts? They don't look familiar but it was years ago now.. (I used to catch the bus to work every morning right there on Derby Road in front of the Savoy cinema at 7am - ughh, those were the days....) Thanks much for posting the pics! |
