Hello all!!
Just joined today after seeing TIE here in Derby last night. Had to let everyone know I thought it was an astounding film. Funny, poignant and moving with a top sound track to boot!
Been a Meadows fan since being blown away by Dead Man's Shoes. A brutally beautiful picture.
The guy's a genius I tell you! This Is England is gonna be Yowdge!
Bill.

Hello to all. I'm a new Shane fan, watched Dead Mans Shoes. Wow canna wait for TIE to be shown in the Cinema in Burton on Trent. After much debating the cinema have agreed to show the film from a local man.

Hi David and everyone! Well it;s a funny old world isn't it? In Feb I decided I had to do something with my urge to write so applied for a screenwritong course with the Arvon Foundation. Got in with a helpful grant and was transported to Shanes World courtesy of his old friend Paul Fraser who was one of our tutors. Strangely. I had seen the ads for "This is England" and was gripped but thought it was a telly film. Paul and Shane's experience of growing up was v similar to mine -same age S Yorks not staffs but working class people with summat to say and do. Me and Bev didn't have a camera but we had a tape player -reel to reel if you remeber that! and a fellow lot of mates. Our first love was Ska-I loved Suggs she loved the one out of the Specials (what was his name I've gone blank)-he was too hard for me). So being remembered of all this is v special and as an :)aspiring film maker am inspired by Shane and Pauls approach-get out there with a camera and some mates and have a laugh-usually with a message, Am off to see TIE on Fri with some like thinking mates and really looking forward to it.

Hello hello hello! Long time Shane fan, first time poster, ex-pat Nottingham chap now living in London, saw TwentyFourSeven on its cinema release in 1997, been a fan ever since. I was so taken by the film that I literally went out and bought the soundtrack as soon as it had finished (in HMV, Leicester Square, at about 10.30 at night.) I'd just moved down to London from Nottingham to go to university, and being an East Midlands lad out on his own for the first time, the story and characters just really resonated with me. I felt as if I knew these people, you know? Anyway, not exactly sure what I'm looking for from the forum, probably just would like to chat about Shane's work, maybe meet some other aspiring filmmakers and writers. Say hellay etc.
