hi everyone.my names mat and im from cannock in staffordshire. only just got into shanes films(bought 24/7 from woolies for £3 a couple of months ago ) i'd heard of his films before ( ithink i remember seeing smalltime reviewed on jonothan ross years ago and was interested cos it was filmed in the midlands) but never got round to watching them. i have now seen dead mans shoes (good old woolies again,£4!) you probably already know this yourselves but its one of those films i get more out of every time i watch it and paddy is a fantastic actor. a mate of mine, who i made watch dead mans shoes, immediately went on t'internet and bought "a room for romeo brass" which i havent bought yet but thoroughly enjoyed and will be buying soon! im not really what i would call a "film buff" but i knows what i likes and british films have always been in my favourites. anyway, just thought i'd say hello!

Hello chap, Welcome and good to have you here! Shane's fame is slowly spreading through word of mouth. Like you, I pass on my copy of DMS to friends..... everybody loves it and then seeks out the earlier films. Room for Romeo Brass is a lovely film-as good as Kes IMO. I once went for a run on Cannock chase, got lost and was out for f*cking hours!! Nice part of the world tho'. Jill

Hi matsdachef! Great story!
I 'discovered' Shane Meadows with DMS and have just lent my treasured DVD copy to a guy at work. His interest was aroused when I described Meadow as a cross between Ken Loach and Sergio Leone!
Now after seeing TIE a few weeks ago I've turned into a really really big fan of Shane Meadows. I just feel privileged to have a film director on my doorstep who has made some of the best British films of all time!

TIE is theatrically released april 27th mate. Won't be in all cinemas, got any arty cinemas close to you? Apparently TIE has a bigger distribution than DMS so should be in more cinemas.
