Enjoyed the film, well enjoyed them all really but This is England is probrably the best although DMS was memorable.

Spent my youth in Essex (Thurrock) and for my sins im living in the midlands.

Welcome to the site. Lots happening in the Midlands.. a nice film named "Summer" in Notts/Derbyshire soon hopefully, and one just been filmed in Birmingham named "Clubbed" - Birmingham and the Black Country very under-used as a location in my opinion. Dalziel and Pascoe and Doctors - hmmm...

Carolyn, I find and organise locations. Done a few of Shane's plus one or two others. It's a fun job, sort of, and about as glamorous as wee. I'm in Birmingham at the moment trying to get onto the roof of two different factories, so we can film big wide shots from there of the city coming to life at night.

So you are Richard Knight, the location manager on Dead Mans Shoes. Shane was talking about it in his documentary on the DVD. Nice job, beats being a legal secretary I suppose.

I'm on the edges, Ladywood, Nechells, Balsall Heath, Aston, Gravelly Hill. Need shots looking back at the city but it's supposed to be 1984, so Selfridges and The Radisson are getting in the way a bit! In Edgbaston right now, uploading pics for the director to view.. and accidentally deleting some from my flash card.. careless! Never done that before.. oh well.

How did you get into a job like that Rich? what kinda stuff were you interested in the past, college etc? movies all the way?

Do you know the city or not. I know somebody who has done photography across Birmingham for the last 20 years or so and could pass him your email address or pass you his if you are interested in contacting him.

I live in Bearwood by the way which is not far from Edgbaston.

How long are you in Birmingham? Have you thought about Handsworth, I think the riots were around that time but not entirely sure.
