I predict very big things for Tony Kebbell! I think Control will probably be his main catalyst as it seems to be getting the Cannes critics all excited. I'm watching Northern Soul at the minute and its brilliant!
I KNOW WHAT THIS ABOUT! IT'S ABOUT ME WANTIN TO BECOME A WESTLER!

I'm looking forward to seeing 'Control', it's a very interesting story and it wasn't really done justice in 24 hour party people....suppose it was only a small - albeit very important - part of a bigger story in that film...
strange coincidence that after starring together in dead man's shoes Toby Kebbell and Paddy have both gone on to play Rob Gretton in seperate films.....
if anyone here has seen Control do they want to put their balls on the block and say who's done a better job......?

The debbie curtis book is , obviously and necessarily, one sided, but worth a read all the same. that book also put me in touch with the info that curtis killed himself whilst listening to 'the idiot' by iggy pop... a better album i never did here

That Wilderness was shocking, absolutely shat. here's a clip of Control : cannes.telerama.fr/cannes2007/2007/05/control_danton_.htmlOnly a glimspe of Toby Kebell I think near the beginning. I thought Paddy Considine did the part brilliant. That snivelling, twitching talking through the end of his nose manc accent was spot on.

I'm a massive fan of Joy Division, so I can't wait for Control, having seen a few clips. 24HP was okay, but Ian Curtis's suicide was not an easy one. Till then, read Touching from a Distance.

On a slightly similar subject Tony Wilson was on North West Tonight before he looked terribly ill. I fucking hate cancer. Horrible really.

'The Commander: Windows of the Soul' is Toby's project with Gary Stretch.
It's an Amanda Burton TV mini-movie series of three ITV films.
The three films are 'Devil you Know', 'Fraudster' and 'Windows of the Soul' (starring Gary and Toby)
Synopsis On an East London estate, with a history of bad blood between residents and the police, a priest is beaten and stabbed to death.
Suspicion falls on Jimmy Bannerman,(Gary) from the local boxing club. Commander Clare Blakeand DCI Doug Jamesare polarised by this boxing protege, the brutal competitiveness of the amateur boxing world resonating with Doug’s own youth.
After a vicious attack on a fellow detective, Blake and Doug put aside their differences to try to find the killer before he strikes again and more violence erupts on the estate.

Rob Gretton was an acquaintance of mine... gave me my first ever taste of cocaine backstage at Reading 1998 (i hasten to add that it was also my last as it's not my flava, ya dig?). The first time i watched 24HrPP i was AMAZED at Paddy's portrayal... he nailed it. Paddy's going to be a tough act to follow but i have every confidence that Toby will deliver the goods very differently... Rob was a full-on geezer; very passionate and not one to fuck around with. I know a lot of his close friends were devestated by his death but, to be frank, everyone saw it coming and it's incredible he lived as long as he did with his smack habit.
