Last night I had the great pleasure of meeting Gavin Clarke in person after last night's performance of the band UNKLE in Nottingham. He's touring with them at the moment. UNKLE were superb, if you're not familiar with their work, check out their MySpace page. www.myspace.com/unkleI chatted with Gavin after the show and I told him that the main reason for my going to the gig was to see and hear him live. hi thribb, thats a nice pic i went to the gig at manchester academy on thursday and will be writing about it on my blog next weekend. gavin was extremely gracious in facilitating things so i got to take some fly on the wall pics of him and the band backstage. what a great bloke and what a lovely bunch of people all the crew and band were as well. i got some "experimental"pics of the UNKLE gig (ie im not used to taking pics in low light, i normally use natural light) which have turned out quite well so i'll put up a link here once i publish the article. oh and i'll invite you on facebook as well thribb

I'll let you judge that. Ive just wrapped, but then last nite we shot the making of the music video, which is for another competition. Hopefully a little lighter!
UNKLE - Restless
Its about a street prostitute lisa (jo) who finds out she has contracted HIV from a punter. She has always been as careful as poss in her past and has contracted it from being raped whilst doing a trick. The music video shows the emotional journey from her finding out, to roming the streets of east london late at nite, lost and angry. Dealing with the reality of how to continue her life on the streets. She makes harsh choices. (ill not spoil it and tell you too much).
We shot it with real prostitutes. Ive been hanging out with them for a couple of weeks, their lives are unbelievable and the stories are so so dark you could never imagine experiencing such things. You will also never meet such characters in normal life.
I hope the footage comes good, what ive seen is interesting and the experience has been a pure education into how lucky we really are to have a warm bed a good family.
This is a lifestyle only few survive, as you will probably find out in the documentary. One girl, Bonnie - 22, got murdered just before we started filming, they found 4 pints of her blood in jars in a flat and a finger. These girls are human and some of them are lovely, quite together actually, its scary. Some are very nasty too.
Its no Pretty Woman lets put it that way.

That sounds incredible Jo. I see what you mean by it being quite dark. It sounds tragic, I've not heard the song before but am really looking forward to it.
Let us know when it goes online.
Take care Jo,

Wow Gav is brilliant on vocals as usual and the band are brilliant, its very different to Clayhill and Sunhouse stuff but I really like it. Could this one be the one to fling Gavin into the mainstream??? I'll definately be keeping an eye on this band.

Who wants mainsteam when you have the power of a voice like that! He's already there. I understand it brings cash but he is a genious.
I heard that track last week and his voice just blows me away time and time again, one of the most complex emotional voices i have ever heard!
Top track!
