Lets get back to Gavin though....
I went to the UNKLE studio on friday last week in london, its the first time ive ever been in one.
I was invited to a gallery in SOHO the week previous, a private viewing of UNKLE's artwork, where i hooked up with James Lavelle and the band (who are all v cool and lovely, consumate professionals).
James (bass player) invited me to the studio last friday, where they were recording some new material. Id just been for an audition and was a bit shaky, i got to the studio and it was intense, after a few beers i relaxed a little. Then it was Gav's turn to record his stuff - WOW, it was amazing, the atmosphere was beautiful, his voice is so perfect, haunting. Shane had spoken about him lots to me and of course i love his work, but when i heard him recording, it was a beautiful experience... perfect at times, had to stop myself from crying as he allowed no tears!! ;( His voice live was better than when i hear it on a record!
Now i want to be in a rock band, its brilliant when you watch really cool people at work i was blown away! Bring on the new UNKLE stuff......especially with Mr Clarke on!

Its funny whenever I write screenplays Jo I usually end up listening to Clayhill or Sunhouse albums. Its hard to explain but I find his voice very easy to listen to and pick up ideas from listening to the music even though the actual screenplay has nothing to do with the songs what so ever.
Although when i had to write an emotionally upsetting scene this afternoon I found myself listening to Field of gold by Eva Cassidy on repeat. Its funny how different music can help you write different things.
My two best tracks on the War Stories album were the ones Gavin did so delighted to hear he is working with UNKLE again.

I love that song by eva cassidy, she is amazing... music really inspires a mood, im very receptive to it myself. Its so important, i try to listen to music before a shoot or in the trailer before a scene, i used to do it all the time for DMS and TIE.
Shane has amazing taste in music and he always introduces me to great stuff, im so inspired by that.
'Please please please' the song gav sang at the end of TIE, was something Shane played at his flat in notts to me during filming. He played it one eve to me and I cried, literally started to cry. I felt really inspired by the words and the personal message it sent me was overwhelming...
'Havn't had a dream in a long time.... see the life i had, would make a good man turn bad, so for once in my life,.. let me,. get what i want, god knows it will be the first time...'
FUCK,.. thats such an intense cry for help!!!
From what i saw on friday they adore Gavin, they all really respect him, i could just tell. It was so good to see it, I really adore his work and he is one of the nicest guys ive ever met. Discreet and quiete, so humble. He has no need to be anything else... he is one if the greatest singers ive ever heard, his voice is unique.
I had such a laugh on friday with them, so normal yet different.
He's a top bloke, really funny and dry with it, he deserves everything good that comes to him, genuinley.

Crikey.
I first saw James Lavelle in 98' at the Reading festival, queued up for a couple of hours on my tod outside the leisure centre. Him and LTJ Bukem were my first proper live dj's.
I died at the back of the sportshall. I was brilliant.

I agree, Gavs version is head and shoulders above Morrissey and the Smiths, although it was never a bad song to begin with!

Unkle's new album 'End Title: Stories for Film' comes out on Monday.
'Fifth album from the dance-rock crossover heroes comes almost exactly a year after their last album 'War Stories' and as the title suggests is a collection of cinematic pieces "inspired by the moving image", some of which have actually featured in films. Intersperses short string interludes and moments of gorgeous ambient warmth with driving, rock-influenced anthems such as they recorded on 'War Stories', featuring a selection of guest vocalists including Gavin Clark of indie-folk-rockers Clayhill.' HMV.com
According to the track listing Gavin features on 5 tracks.

Excellent business.gavins version of please please please (LMGWIW) is brilliant, but it is not better, than the original. For years it was the only Smiths song i actually liked, def one of morriseys best lyrics.

There's a track at the end of 'The X-Files: I Want to Believe' called Broken. I had no idea who it was by until I just typed in Gavin Clark on itunes. Awesome track. Love it. I'll be checking out more stuff from UNKLE.
