Hi all,
At the moment I am in college and I'm doing Media Studies A2, and I enjoy it alot, as well as my other music based lessons.
My question is aimed at Shane Meadows himself and/or any other directors or fans of Contemporary British Cinema and is part of my coursework/exam for my Critical Research Study module in Media.
'What view of morality and crime do you think Contemporary British Cinema provides?'
I would really appreciate any feedback on this topic
Thankyou in advance, Carl
P.S. Loving the movies

i would recommend that you has a read over an aricle by Claire Monk called “From Underworld to Underclass: Crime and British Cinema in the 1990s” which is in a book by Chibnall & Murphy called "British Crime Cinema" (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1999) ... that should provide you with tonnes of info and has some really good work on shanes first film, 'smalltime'...
also, can't remember where i read it but a guy called sheldon hall wrote the following: "Meadows has a commendable inability to regard even the worst villains as anything other than human beings. He is very much a native insider rather than a sympathetic visitor,”

Have you chosen specific films as case studies yet?
I always went the case studies route, looking at particular individual films when i was studying Media Studies.

It provides the platform for debate. It has no place taking a view.
