Nice one Salv! All my DVD players are multi-region because I like to shop for all those hard to find movies when I'm in the States. Anyhoo, I look forward to hearing people's thoughts on the film when they have seen it! Cheers - Tom.

ARGH! I can't believe it! It's mad - all those days where I would sit up til 5am working on the edit or the sound mix with my mate/composer Jonny. All the money spent getting it off to the festivals and newspapers. All the ups and downs of making the bloody thing, and it's at your place before mine! Ha ha. Brilliant. I'm sitting with crossed fingers, waiting for it to turn up...
Where did you order it from by the way? Was it amazon.com or somewhere else?
Tom.

Hi Tom, watched your film last night - written, shot and edited in under six months, blimey!!!
First the bad news, looks like Rocket to Mars is listed on the box as a special feature but isn't on the disk - I couldn't find it anyway!!
I really enjoyed it, considering you had no budget you did an amazing job and the music's brilliant. Chuckled when I saw the shot of Vernon Gate, I live in Derby! I love films such as Babel, 21 gramms etc. those kind of intertwining set ups are really hard to pull off structurally - I think if I was to be critical you could have done with establishing more clearly that all these people had a history previously. I don't think, and I apologise if I've missed something, that there's any scene in the film, that shows that Dawn and Gerry were friends with Bobby and Penny before he went to prison. Similarly, I was a little confused as to who had suffered the miscarriage when we saw Penny crying into baby's clothing.
Also, I think you reveal a lot through dialogue - I think some scenes could have been cut in half and been just as powerful, showing instead of telling is always better. Sorry, don't mean to pick fault - it's a great achievement and a really nice piece of work, very emotional I can tell you bled onto the page for this. Some of the performances are wonderful, the guy who plays Gerry is brilliant and your good self - you're very natural in front of the camera.
Once again, I'm very impressed - great work mate, it's quite an achievement. I look forward to your next film.

Once again, I'm very impressed - great work mate, it's quite an achievement. I look forward to your next film. Hey man. Thanks for that. As you can probably imagine, I've been champing at the bit for some feedaback (good or bad), so I'm really pleased by your response. The whole Gerry and Dawn thing, about them being friends with Bobby - that's a mistake made on the part of Jason Buchanan at All Movie Guide. Basically - they don't know each other at all (if they did, it wouldn't make sense with the Samantha bit). As far as the miscarriage thing (goddamn the movie sounds heavy!) I trimmed a lot out and some parts we couldn't afford to shoot. I should be clear - it's Dawn who suffers the loss. The baby clothes thing is referenced at the end... Can't say which part, but you'll know what I mean when I talk about Penny and the little girl waving... Glad you like the music! Seeing as your in Derby (wahey!) check out You Judas next time they play a gig. Jonny (aka Belly of the Whale) plays in the band, and he made the music using a £99 four-track and a guitar. As you can imagine, I was gobsmacked when I heard the tracks he was creating. It was all very off-the-cuff and he made a lot of the music in my kitchen (where we also filmed). The final 2 tracks were ad-libbed at Dub-Rek studios on Monk Street, with a few musicians who happened to be there at the time just jumping in and taking part. Madness really. The music, for me, becomes the thing that ties the whole thing together. Jonny is really humble about it all, but when we filmed, he'd turn up, watch a scene being shot, go away, record the music, and then come back and say 'That's for the scene I watched you shoot.' Pretty much everything in the film was shot in one or two takes, and Mike Keogh (aka Colin of Colin Can't Be Killed) is great as Gerry. Charlotte (or Charlie as I know her), as Penny, was brilliant (she shot all her stuff in 2 days). And pretty much everyone rose to the challenge of making this teeny, difficult story, work. It was my first piece of acting in seven years, and I was freaking out. I had all these quality paid actors, all blowing me out of my socks, and then all of a sudden, I had to get in front of the camera. The part where Bobby confronts Penny was the first scene I shot, and I'd had just three hours sleep the night before. The following scene was my one with Murphy (nearly 10 minutes) and I had about 2 hours to get it. Things were really, really tight. The whole thing was shot in eight days, and as you can imagine, I would have loved the luxury of a bigger crew (it was me and the cameraman). Thanks for the great response. I have no idea what's happening with Rocket then? That's a pain in the ass for sure. It would've been great on there. Anyways, I've not seen the movie in over a year, so I need to see how it stands up before I can give an honest self-critique... Oh yeah, and I've already seen it on a load of torrent sites! Brilliant. It feels like I'm being mugged. Ha ha. Tom.

Yeah, I figured it was Dawn who'd had the miscarriage it becomes clearer a bit later in the film. Yeah, it makes more sense now that they don't know each other, I was wondering how Gerry didn't know his sister - although it's still plausable that he doesn't!!
Like I said, really impressed - especially within the limitations you had. Anyone who gets off their arse and does something like this is to be applauded. Nice one.
