absolutely loved that mate! Very good indeed. Loved the surreal vibe of the whole thing. Didn't read all of the description... and i looked at the old bloke... and i though.. "THATS NORMAN LOVETT!!" ha ha. Great performance form him as well. But the film stand on it's own feet. Its excellent for a first film. Only criticism I have is that Franks part was perhaps a little over acted. I think a little less OTT and it would have worked better. Saying that, he was very good. I look forward to more!

Aye, I found Francis to be hamming it up. Plus the swearing sometimes felt a bit forced.

Thanks for the feedback, its funny actually because I asked the actor to overplay his role a wee bit as I saw the character as being a bit of a nutbar fantacist. Thats why at the end he has moment of regret as he realises that maybe he did overstep the mark a little. A few people that have seen it commented on his part being a little OTT, which was again strange as for me he did everything I wanted, but many people commented on the girl giving the better performance.
Norman Lovett was great though, there was a funny story about coincidence that led me to offer him the part and quite surprisngly he said yes.
Great lesson for filmmaking, "if you dont ask, you dont get"

Alright, but it may not be not as interesting as it seems to me. Anyways, about a year or so ago I was living in Sheffield and I was out one night for someone's birfday at a bar in town. I didn't know the person to well, but well enough to be there. There was about 15 of us all sat about drinking and being merry when some band started playing. They weren't that great, then again most bands that play covers to half empty pubs are rarely any good. A few of us started chatting about about Red Dwarf, dunno how it started but the conversation went on for a good while, listing favourite episodes and all that kinda shit. The next day one of my mates who I was talking about Red Dwarf calls me and tells me that the following week, exactly a week after we were talking about Red Dwarf (literally to the hour) Norman Lovett is doing a stand up at another bar in town, so obviously it would be rude not to go. The following week, pretty much to the hour that we were nattering on about Red Dwarf, me and and my mate are sat watching Holly do stand up in another bar. The compare of the evening turned out to be the singer of the band the week before. When I was writing the script for "I Killed Your Cat", I was trying to figure out how to cast a mentally incapacitated old man in under a week. I pretty much wrote, and produced the film in about 9 days. Suddenly good ol Norm pops in my head, so I look him up and and send off an e-mail to his website, he reads teh script, says that he likes it, and accepts. Its only after this that I get in touch with my mate who we both had our pic taken with Norman, that he points out it was a year ago to the week that we saw him in stand up. I love a bit of Jungian Synchronicity, its subject I want to touch upon in my next film.

loved it but as has been said a couple of fucks could have been took out, as for the ott performance I thought on the whole it worked well but could have been toned down slightly, it really held my interest I'll look forward to what you do next!!!

I'm about to start work on a 2nd edit next week so I'll probably take some comments in mind. That first edit was pretty much me teaching myself Final Cut as I went along, I had never actually used it up until I had finished shooting and so it will be nice to go back to it with a bit more of a clue, and maybe cut it by another 30 seconds or so.
I actually cut out a few more expletives, and the original title was going to be "Everything about you and that cat, is a cunt" But I couldnt be arsed with the obligatory questions that would come after. I Dont think the swearing is over the top myself, and having been brought up by a Glaswegian father and had one or two dysfinctionial relationships I guess I just wanted to show a certain dialogue that can and does get used even between people who "love" each other.
The swearing has had mixed reactions though, pretty much 50/50, funnily enough its been the girls who thought it was spot on, and a lot of guys felt it was OTT.

the only part I'm not happy with swearing wise is;
"don't think I dont fucking know, don't think I dont fucking know" "what the fuck are you on about" when swearings motivated or funny its brilliant but sometimes it didnt even feel she should have been swearing at all
as for the ott performance I honestly mean he could have just done with a slightest tiny tone down, there was something knowing about his performance and one little tweek and it wouldnt have seemed like he was giving a wink to the audience
but honestly I'd be really proud of that short! I've watched it three times now and its been funny everytime, I wouldnt change a thing if I was you, save it all for your next short!!
also the edit was spot on

It's a great edit for you're first time using final cut. Good stuff.

I only got to watch 3/4 of the film before technology decided to give up on me, very annoying, but I will keep on trying. However, I thought it was very well shot, the use of black and white I thought worked really well. I do agree with some of the previous comments about swearing and OTT acting, I felt that Frank should have been slightly reserved, making lines like 'Fffantastic' even better. Overall, I thought it was really impressive, especially for a first film attempt and the small period in which you made it. I'm gonna keep trying to load the ending, and I'd love to see more in the future.

Not usually one to blow my own trumpet but I literally stumbled across this about 20 minutes ago. Seems my short won a wee prize on Shooting People. shootingpeople.org/join/example_bulletin.php?bulletin=6In the absense of Harry Secombe wailing at me on a Sunday Evening this has proper made my day. Just about to finish a colour recut with a few special effects thrown in for good measure. ;D
