This is a message intended as a warning and invitation to Shane. If you get tempted across the pond to make a Hollywood blockbuster, like many brilliant British filmmakers have, don't be sucked in by "the Hollywood promise" Please work with people you can understand and trust, people with similar backgrounds who know the reality of what you portray in the films you make. I am offering my services as a Production Designer to you. I am based in L.A. but am able to work anywhere and would be chuffed to be able to work with someone who obviously has a very similar vision of a world so rarely glimpsed by people in the U.S. So many U.K. subcultures are hideously distorted in the U.S. and a complete lack of understanding of "class structure" makes for ridiculous stereotypes. I know this truth is evident in England when someone from a privileged background makes what they consider a "gritty working class drama" but here in Hollywierd you can add an extra layer of misunderstanding to that! I still openly invite and encourage you to come and show em' how its done and again offer my services. I make my living and raise my family doing Production Design and Art Direction on Music Videos and Commercials, some fun, some crass! To work on films that passionately convey reality for its own sake instead of trying to tap into the "commercial aspect" would give me great satisfaction. Come to Hollywood and shake em' up a bit. www.nigelrmitchell.com

Call me a cad for pointing this out if you like nigel... but surely a 'hello and introduction' would have been good manners, rather than on your very first post simply SPAMMING your services?
Shock! Horror!
Spam?
I reckon it is - you could have joined in some other threads first.
Just my opinionated opinion.

yes, you are correct and I suppose I am becoming very americanized. selling myself in the land of opportunity is fast becoming the norm for me. it was not my intention to offend the sensabilities and manners I was raised with. So, without further ado, hello, I am nigel and truly apreciate the skill of film making and wish all film makers would play from there strengths as Shane has done. The lure of the mighty buck affects all of us at some level, but we must stick to our principals and try to stay focussed on the art of film making.

Indeed you were, mind you for all I know he may have got what he wanted. Shane could have private messaged him and they may now be sitting together in the Hollywood Hills planning Police Academy 8.

I'm pretty sure that Shane has had plenty Hollywood tempters in the past...especially after 24/7 I think. Being the new young director on the block and all.
I've always wanted to hear a definitive list of things Shane has been offered. Not sure how true it is, but I think Shane was offered the Herbie remake? hahaha sounds untrue... but I think he was offered it way before the recent remake did appear.

That's so funny. I'm trying to emagine the scene when they pitched Shane. Would have probably been a bit like the scene in Sopranoes when Chris trys to get Ben Kingsley to be in his film 'Cleaver'.
