Just a query...
What is the procedure to get funding for your movies? What were your humble begginings?
I need concise, simplisitc detail on how to go about obtaining financial backing for a burgeoning film project.
Sort of desperate. Much obliged.

To be honest, in my humble early years, I couldn't get any finance for my shorts and so had to make everything by hook and crook and with the help of a barely experienced cast and crew who believed in my method/madness.
There were very few avenues back in 94' for financing shorts and even fewer opportunities to get them shown. Nowadays, with the advent of youtube, short film festivals and highly affordable technology, young filmakers can at get their films made and noticed with greater ease than ever before. The one problem being that now, it is very saturated and to stand out from the crowd is much harder than it was in my day.
Financing is best applied for locally to begin with. Building a relationship with a local funding body is more likely in the early stages than places like the BBC and C4 who are overflowing with applications from all over the UK. I have always used (and continue to) EM Media in Nottingham alongside C4 as it ensures local cast, crew and locations are hired and allows you to develop a more individual voice.
