I'm interested to hear an update about 'King of the Gypsies' too.
I met Bartley a few times through Betts. There's even a (posed) photo of me somewhere squaring up to Bartley on the Shell petrol station forecourt at the end of New Road in Utch from about 1987. In fact there's also a photo of Jude sat beside Gavin (Clark) strumming a guitar in my Mum's front room from the 'Towers days - by total coincidence it turns out I now live in the same village as Gavin & Jude.
