Anyone out there know of a good editing package. All i wanna do in convert DVd's I've ,ad of my daughter and edit them together and make a best of.
I'm looking for easy to use and wont crash my PC

There's lots of basic ones that'll do the trick. Doesn't Windows have Movie Maker or something on it? I use a Mac, and that comes with the very simple iMovie.
There's loads of simple software out there for ripping DVD's and burning. I think Nero is pretty much the standard for PC's.

Converting / editing packages are generally separate. One thing they'll do well, the other... really badly.
If you're converting from DVD files then i'd use Mpeg Streamclip (free) to make PC friendly .avi Files. Should be no trouble to then EDIT them in windows movie maker. Best bet though is to have more than 1 hard drive, Capture/Rip/Stream (Basically) Store all your footage on the external firewire hard drive and only store the Movie Maker files on the actual PC. (It'll all run faster that way)
