Neat, sweet and simple. Obviously, at two and a half minutes, you're not going to get a lot of plot going on, but what does happen is very well put together. I do think this is is miles better than the Gargantuan Gorilla thing, so it's good to see you showing what you can do.

i agree, with tom, very nicely put together, steady camera and good cutting, i would have liked a little twist or a more downbeat ending but that's just me

very good production value, mundane story, it would have been nice as wiggy said to have a punch line ending or twist
the camera work etc is very promising though man! just wirte a script next time
also good to see you kept it nice and short!!

I felt it was going to end downbeat, but didn't want it too. Great little short film. Some ace editing in there I thought. Hey DazzaB.... if you can do another edit that runs at 90 seconds or less, then you should put it forward for the Depict! 90 second film competition. We run it at the Watershed, but it is internationally recognised I think. It is definitely a part of the Encounters short film fest we do. Have a look at the website for all the details. I can't recall whether the entire film has to be 90 seconds or less, or whether you can get away with the film being 90 seconds and the credits can over-run the 90 seconds. Should say somewhere on the site: www.depict.org/news/72

Hey guys, thanks for all the positive comments ;D
We shot the film on a saturday afternoon primarily again to test out the camera and sound kit before we make "Soldier Boy"(a proper written screenplay at last ;D) . We just had to roll with what we had me, PJ, his daughter and their dog so there was never going to be much dialogue.
What I'm glad everyone has picked up on is how much better the production quality was. I climbed a roof to get high shots and we really thought about variation which we never used to do and we are starting to get the films to look more professional (PJ is currently building us his version of a redrock).
The editing is brilliant as thats where PJ excells and spends hours editing where as I just rush the editing phase which i have learnt is a big no no. We have some decent scripts that I've written and we now feel ready to shoot. We spent almost a fortnight editing this extremely short film. Also we did the music to the film as well which is a new venture.
Dave we will defo have a go at the 90 second film comp I will have a look and ask PJ to edit it down to 90 secs. We entered the Virgin media 2 and a half minute comp last night.
We are both really proud of this little film and this is now the production quality that we will be aiming for on everything new ;D

Hey Dazza,
I think this was a great little short for someone working on their equipment and getting a feel for narrative storytelling with little dialogue. Keep it up mate, those scripts will be all the better shot for it!

Hey thanks Salv. I just want to make sure everything is going right before we shoot Soldier Boy as i really think it has great potential to do well but I just dont want to rush into it so we have really been trying different things and different styles and editing effects but i think after making Precious we have found it. I have three good actors now lined up for Soldier Boy we just need the female lead and we are set to go ;D

Hey Dazzab, just watched, Great job! Well done. I personally liked it how it was... too many films have "mental" twists at the end, it's not always necessary. A simple tale, and i really felt for him. Really good stuff mate. I look forward to Soldier Boy!

Reminds me of the one time I recall getting lost. I went up to someone who I thought was my mother and she immediately informed me, "AY AIN'T YAW FACKIN' MAWM!"
That was me told.
