Hey Guys
Thought I'd share some really exciting news. Finally everything is coming together and the film I have written Soldier boy is being shot in August and all as of yet without a budget, who said you need a budget to make a film
So far attached to the project and working for free is a Bristol based DOP who will be bringing two Sony Z1s to shoot on and lighting. A professional sound engineer with own studio to do the sound recording, folly and ADR. A special FX and make up guy, Assistant Director and a camera operator. All of these guys came on board after they read the script and wanted it on their portfolios.
I have had thirty females apply for the role of Tina and have narrowed it down to eight that I now need to meet and choose the one. Barry is already cast as are Dennis and Poppy.
Locations are now almost sorted, we have a flat to use in Cheltenham and the rest of the locations are secured nearer to home.
If any of the film making guys on here fancy coming down for any of the days and getting involved let me know as your more than welcome. But it just goes to prove that you can get your film made at a very good standard you just have to go for it ;D
Basically the film will focus on the lives of two main characters:
Barry is a young soldier that has returned from Iraq to find the world he has left has changed. He is struggling to readjust to normal life and the strain of having to deal with post traumatic stress. He cannot see any positive future or beauty in the world until a chance encounter with a young single mum leads to him falling in love for the very first time and proving how far he will go to prove his love.
Tina is a young single mother to her daughter Poppy, stuck in the cycle of domestic abuse from her older partner Dennis she puts up with daily beatings and her sad existence of a life in order to feed and cloth her much loved baby daughter. When her world collides with Barry’s she feels something she hasn’t felt in a long time happiness and the warmth of a friend who knows how she feels.
When Dennis finally pushes Tina too far all she can do to protect her daughter is to fight back with tragic consequences. Can the two friends rise above it all and look towards a positive future or do happy ending only ever happen in fairy tales?
