Title says it all really.
Scum is obviously a classic English film - but the borstal subject really hasn't been approached as well since, if at all.
And give Paddy a job as a psychotic guard.
Perfect.

Good idea, but what could be said that Scum didn't?

Hmm, Scum 2008: ASBOs, Community Service, holidays, Laptops and, of course, some Claims R us ambulance chasers planning to sue the victims for damages. You never know, it might work, but sounds more like a job for GMTV or Richard and Judy.

Hey Jake/Paul.... nice photos of your shoot..... however, the proliferation of them in all manner of unrelated threads is getting a bit spammy don't you think? Keep them to the film making section.... and in a thread about your own film!

It’s a can of worms subject and I would love to see Shane tackle it. In a way though he already looks at people trapped by systems and how they are failing us. 24/7 was so powerful because no matter how successful you wanted the boxing club to be they inherently had a rubix cube of problems around them pulling them down and even that was suppose to be an escape from crime. I would love to see a film that looks at this from the outside in. Maybe it’s because you can almost guess the prison script. One of Shane’s strengths is too look through the eyes of the young and if your mum or dad go to prison and become worse what does that say to them?

How about instead of the story being told from the kids point of view - but from the guard himself...maybe the frustrations outside of the jail being taken out at work??
Dave: Kudos on the Conky and Bubbles avatar...class.

How's about having Carling's role replaced by Tank Bullock... and maybe the 'Mecca Loving Veggie' Archer could be replaced by Shag! "Shag - youth... ah'm just a-sayin... yer walkin' about barefoot ya danged idiot - start a-wearin' shoes man." And that other classic bit: "Where's your bottle?" "What fackin' bottle?" [Tank pulls out a bottle of Mung Cola] "This f*ckin' bottle!" "Oh... sorry... I didn't bring one - apologies!" "That's okay man... have a swig an' this one - HEY don't glutton it!" N.

Keep them to the film making section.... and in a thread about your own film! Agreed. It is a bit annoying Jake/paul. No disrespect though, hope all is going well for your film bud. Nothing to add here... haven't seen Scrum (will do soon, its on the love film list!) But are we talking remake here.. accept set in 2008? Or just a similar film? Would Shane do a remake?!

Good God no - not a remake *spits*
Scum is excellent at showing brutality inside borstal - between prisoners and the also the guards.
Doesn't really address why. The man Meadows is excellent at showing the complex relationships of men and boys - just think it could be something if he turned his hand to...
So do it Meadows - or the sock and pool balls come out...
