hi all, thought i'd share this link, i've started to make one of these, should have it finished in about a week when all my bits and bats have arrived from all over ebay! so far it's cost me about 20 quid, one thing i have saved money on is the focusing screen and the focusing screen holder, i am using the foam rubber from a mouse mat for the holder and also for the screen i'm using the lab slides with wax method, all tutorials are on this site, the thing is for the cheapest 35mm adapter you will pay around £600 so i thought it was worth a try. your footage with one of these can really stand out (almost film like) if in good light, if anyone else fancies the challenge to make one then let me know how you got on, and message me if you need help sourcing the bits and bats ciao www.jetsetmodels.info/news.htm
i have seen this kits theres a system made in India which has a spinning lens to give the depth it's a copy of a more expensive 35mm adapter not sure how or if there any good its supposed to throw the background out of focus giving the 35mm look and feel of film.
The redrock is great I saw what it can do on a film I worked on the other month and was really impressed. Cool link Wiggy I'll have to get my mate to have a bash at making one of these altho he is already working on a redrock as he had a good look at how it worked and him and his dad are brilliant at building things like this ;D
I saw a short in HDV with the Redrock adaptor last week and was blown away by it - I'm reading around this subject and might take the plunge.... still like film though!
we've been using the redrock m2 adaptor on our feature bar stewards, the footage looks really good but the sets need to be well lit, here is the promo if you haven't seen it already!
Very nice - its certainly the DOF that makes the difference and gets away from that whole "on DV" thing. The set up I'm looking at is using screens which can be altered - effectively providing for more grain. Once of got the bits, built it, swore a lot - I'll post here. Hoping to use it for a couple of doc. projects later this year.
just finished making this, cost me 13 pound for the box but the rest of the stuff i had lying around, oh and 50p for the wood! up to now it looks amazing, exactly the same as the red rock m2 adapter www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/dof/index.htm
