Hi Guys
I have a feeling that this may have been mentioned before but I'm still going to ask the question.
Does anyone have any experience of copyrighting a screenplay and is it worth doing?
Thanks

to be honest i very much doubt it is worth doing, i registered my fearless men with the writers guild of america for £10, i got a certificate with a number on it but i have done rewrites to it about 20 times since after feedback and now it isn't the same so if someone made it i wouldn't have a leg to stand on ha! but honestly, unless it's another sixth sense or resident evil apocalypse then don't bother. only kidding about res evil

A simple way to protect your intellectual rights (although I'm not sure this is still valid and I aint no lawyer) is to stick whatever it is in an envelope and seal it with a tamperproof seal (sealing wax) and send it to yourself through the post. When it comes back don't open it - whilst its not protecting your copyright per se, you have a proven date of sealing which would hopefully pre-date anything else if you ever ended up in court and you could produce it as an exhibit.

Dazza, you own copyright as soon as you write something. The case is proving it.
I wouldn't worry too much about all that stuff. It's a whole minefield and truth be told, nobody can own the copyright to an idea, just a script.
It's truly not worth worrying about.
