Heya,
I'm currently working on a shoot which is taking place in a park - and as well as it being good practice - the location requires that we have insurance for all of the necessary risks on the day.
I was wondering if anyone knows what else I might need other than public liability insurance and also where would be a good place to go for this and how much roughly one day should cost?
Any help is much appreciated, its new territory for me and the budget is low, I feel like this might be a challenge...
Thanks alot,
Sam.

Blimey - well - I think there's a market here for anyone willing to offer Public Liablity Insurance to small-scale productions at a reasonable price. My limited experience in this area and relatively minor shopping around found that Hiscox were the best bet - www.hiscox.co.uk - tried AON and Media Insurance Brokers but they were way expensive, but even the Hiscox policy cost me £700 for one tiny production, which was a massive amount of the budget.. ridiculous. The project I needed to insure was for Channel 4 and after telling me I had to sort my own insurance they later relented, allowing me to insure on their production scheme for £100 (in fact they took the £100 out of the fee they gave me) so I ended up being insured twice over costing £800 in total - groovy. If anyone else is working with you on your film in theory you ought to have employer's liability insurance too, but in reality that's really probably not necessary, a bit of public liability insurance should suffice, £1million is a minimum. You might want to try a standard insurance company but in my experience the mere mention of film is enough to send them running away in the opposite direction. The amount of insurance claims in the film industry means that many insurers won't touch you with a barge pole. Seriously, I bought a landrover last year and no-one would touch it at all when I told them I was going to use it on a film set. Good Luck!!
