Had free a free evening last night and thought i'd make a short music video, mainly as practice before i start work on my planned movie short. I hit the first stumbling block having nobody to act, hold the camara, etc etc etc... so had to do it all myself. I know there are some errors in it but i'm on the learning curve.
Please be kind all you critics!

Very good effort, really thought the lighting worked perfectly and gave it a professional quality look. Shows potential.
I also know what it can be like to do everything yourself. A couple of years ago I made this film 100% doing everything myself

I'm undecided as to whether it looks nicely slick or a tad saturated. I'd opt for the former with a touch of the latter.
Fingers crossed I'll get offered a job on Monday and splurge my first paycheck on a camera.

I'm with Dazza here. If the production level is so bad as to be unwatchable, what do you expect? Nobody's asking for a crew of fifteen and a zinger of a soundtrack. We're just saying that you can't get to the ideas of the films. That's not being mean, it's being honest. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like it was made on a mobile phone. I hate watching that kind of stuff, especially when you can pick up a decent, box fresh MP4 video camera for around £80 that would boost your stuff beyond belief. The thing is, since DVD's became dirt cheap, YouTube sprang to life and all mobiles started coming with cameras, everyone and their dog thinks they can make films. And whilst that's not a bad thing, if there's no story to be told, it doesn't, for my money, count as much more than 'larking about.' Rather then getting all bent out of shape, take it on the chin and get back to making something better. We've all had to do that. If you want a pat on the back for turning a camera on and pointing it at something random and then adding titles, well done. Happy? If you want the same for shooting a film of any length/form, well, make one. Tom, are you posting this on the wrong thread? seems a tad harsh and random if not. And no it wasn't shot on a mobile phone, I used a Canon XL1. Shindig, regarding the saturation, Its a standard filter effect that i used, so each to their own on which one to use i suppose. I'm having some problems with rendering at the moment, seems to come out a lot darker than it looks in the project! don't know why but its frustrating, i suppose i should get an output monitor really. Thanks for your comments guys!

Ha ha. Whoops! I don't know what happened there - honest! Ha ha. Sorry, but yes, it ended up being posted on wrong thread. That's what I get for tabbed browsing! Ignore the comments as they're not aimed at your work... I'll neatly put them where they belong. A thousand pardons... Ha ha.

Cool - watched it now (still unsure how I put the wrong comment in here) and it's quite a neat little thing. I've used Magic Bullet fx before, and you did a restrained job, so top work there.
All round, very nice and yeah, been in that 'no crew, no cast' scenario many a time myself, and yet you turned it to your advantage. Top move.
Oh, and I see your in Mansfield... I lived there for a couple of years, the second bravest thing I did after deciding to make my feature... No, just messing. Although, the town centre on a Saturday night still leaves me dumbfounded.
Best of luck with the short.
