As someone who has been to Weston many times throughout my childhood years I felt really upset and moved watching that video. I think it was seeing the photos and knowing all those old fashioned fun and games in the pier are now gone and will probably be replaced with modern machines. The loss of the pier seriously has upset a lot of people. The students at my college were really gutted as well.
The video was brilliant tho Dave, MC/DC has made the people of Weston proud and it was very poignant, well done mate ;D

Anorak question....just how old was the pavillion on the pier? Looks very modern, not like those curvaceous Victorian constructions? Not that it matters...still very sad

Thanks everyone!
I set myself a bit of a challenge with this one. Trying to be vaguely amusing while also not looking like I was taking the piss. I'm quite pleased with the end balance I achieved. The main angle was to derive most of the humour from MC/DC himself rather than the pier incident.
Jill, I think the pavilion was built in the early 30's. It was actually a replacement after previous fire! The pier has been around for just over 100 years now apparently.

So what's amusing about MC/DC playing Wii-Sports and drinking red bull with a buddy?! Ha ha.

Originally MC/DC was playing GTA4.... but luckily Wii-Sports occured to me, and it is blatantly funnier. There are a few (well, one probably) in jokes for locals. Like the destinations from which visitors come. For some reason, loads of brummies visit Weston-super-Mare... I have no idea why. Seems like a hell of a journey for a day out.

"I swear I saw a tear in the eye of donkey. That's right, I saw a donkey weep, and you should weep too." - Where was MC/DC when Diana died eh? We coulda done with a rap version of Candle in the Wind. Brilliant.

Brilliant. Thanks for commenting Tom. As you can imagine, the donkey line was influenced by seeing that photo on a news site. A burnt pier is one thing, but I don't think MC/DC will be tackling any deaths any time soon! haha
