I absolutely cannot wait to see this film. Shane is imo one of the greatest filmmakers alive today; we are privileged to witness the flowering of such a huge talent. Anyway, if you've seen the film what did you think of it? I'll come back here and say what I thought in a few days when I've seen it. In the meantime, I've posted the trailer for Somers Town on my blog, nattily tying it in with reference to a recent blog article I wrote about Chris Doyle, the creator of Mini-Mizer, where you make yourself in Lego online. Hoardes of Chris's fans have been streaming over from the USA to read my interview with him (his Mini-Mizer and lego comics have a sizeable worldwide fanbase now) and I figured that these were just the kind of people who needed to know about Somers Town if they hadn't yet heard of Shane's work. I am wasted as an author, honestly, I should have got a job in marketing!

I went to a press screening of SOMERS TOWN back in July. Thought it was brilliant. Vintage Meadows and another great turn from Tommo. Will be going to see it again this weekend for sure.

A simple story well told only Shane can pull off a movie like this with such skill there's nothing but the story to keep you clued but clued you are { effects stunts killing blood gore } Perry Benson was darn cool as a sell anything type hoarder his house full of his wares. This film works very well with very simple charm and real characters which bring the story to life

Greetings from New Orleans... I just got the DVD from Amazon.uk yesterday. I watched it last night as well as all of the extras. SOMERS TOWN reaffirms why Shane Meadows is one of my favorite filmmakers. Wonderful performances, beautifully shot. I can't wait to screen it at my theater here in New Orleans. Any news on U.S. distribution? If no one picks it up, can I book a theatrical run directly from Warp Films? who? Shane, If you are going to be in the U.S., we would love to bring you down to New Orleans for a retrospective. Just seen it myself, its a good film taking a different route to what shane normally does. Not as good as his other films in my opinion but still well worth a watch.

It's been a while since we had a supposed big fan whose first post is so disparaging. I assume from you post that you didn't pay to see the film, so what was it, a pirate copy? I hope that the quality wasn't to shoddy, I hear pirates nowadays are top quality! If it was a pirate and you have connections, I would love a copy of King of the gypsies as I hear they get films on pirate now, even before they are made.
