I tried that one. Five minutes later the menus flashed up again. And again. Pity really because there are a few Blu-Ray releases coming soon that I fancy the look of, but I'll stick with reliable standard def for now. Well, that can only be a faulty player.. or faulty remote. Why on earth would companies release films in which menus pop up throughout the film at random intervals? They wouldn't! ;D

Loved Somers Town. Heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time. Particularly enjoyed Tomo's outfit!

I viewed Somers Town for free because I work at a cinema and I have to say that if I had to I WOULD HAVE GLADLY PAID TO SEE IT. I finally got around to buying it this week and after watching it for the second time I think it's even better. How can you not feel your heart melt at the relationship between these two young men. It's really warm hearted and NOT EVERY SHANE MEADOWS FILM HAS TO TAKE A SINISTER TURN. I still think that's why a lot of people didn't like 'Midlands. I loved 'Midlands. It may not be Shane's best film but I'd gladly take his worst over the majority of others' better efforts any day of the week.

That's what I like about Midlands too, it let's you think you are heading somewhere dark at the end, but then turns it around.

I love Somers Town. The characters, atmosphere and injection of humour make this film.

It's probably the only work of Shane's that I don't return to as often as the others.
I love the black and white photography, Thomas Turgoose is great as is Piotr Jagiello, the soundtrack is one of the best and the ending is one of the sweetest in Shane's canon. I should give it another watch.
