How many characters did 'Betts' influence Shane ?

I've watched a few of Shanes movies and saw TIE shortly after it was released last year.
I went to 'Alleynes' with Shanes sister and knew her skinhead boyfriend quite well who, in my opinion, must have pretty much directly influenced at least one character in TIE.
The shopping precinct and cafe that feature in the movie surely have to have been influenced by the Maltings and The Islander - popular hang out's of many a teenager of the '80s.
I'd be interested to hear from Shane (either here or by PM) how much of an influence Betts had on certain characters in the movie. There was another Utch skinhead who lived just up the road from Shane on Westlands Road. His name escapes me now and I didn't know him particulary well but he too could feature in a character or two.
Yeah I've read in various interviews that Paula's boyfriend made an impression on Shane and had an influence, but I'm talking specifics rather than in general
