Hey up.... after seeing PaulBlackpool's old Amiga animation, I thought I would dig out an old animation I did a few years ago and plop it on YouTube. Well, I say animation, but it's barely animated at all to be honest. This was only done as an in-joke for a friend, that's why I have never revealed it before.. but thanks to PaulBlackpool it inspired me to let it loose! I was trying to capture the feel of those lame late 70's early 80's kids animations like King Rollo etc! ;D As for the main character.... you won't know him.... but all you need to do is imagine the most slow-witted person you do know and imagine it is them. Includes a swear word! So watch out! Have some of this! uk.youtube.com/watch?v=M8vmqKkesK8&fmt=18

Corker! Love the use of a certain theme tune as well.. "Ee, ey up arr Mam!" The incidental music - very 'King Rollo meets the Cocteau Twins (with a bit of Aphex Twinon the side) Love the paucity of animation - it's def. very '70s and '80s... conjures up images of 'Ragtime', 'Pigeon Street', 'Rub-A-Dub-Tub' etc. In short? Love it! Neil.

LOL. Very cute. Taking further what you say about King Rollo , your narration style and even your voice is very Oliver Postgate. I can just hear you saying 'Noggin The Nog' just as it should be said. In fact, dare I say... You've got a very comforting voice! I'll leave that there... When Taz turned up at the toilets with his arm covered in shit I thought he was gonna get done for cottaging and fisting! Nice pull back. On a serious note I thought the pacing and cutting were nicely judged. A lot of amateur animation suffers from scenes hanging around long after they ought to have departed.

Ahh haha... well if you knew me, then you would know from the off we wouldn't be heading down any of those 'alleys'. It's a rarity for me to include a swear even! I try to avoid it unless it will be an attempt at doing something clever with it or it fits a character. Like I said, this was made for a friend originally, so the cheeky swear was between chums. haha

Dave, just because you have access to an animation programme doesn't to me seem a reason to make this film Joke mate, reminded me of those "Charlie Says" videos

I prefer this to 'Charlie' (the animation, not the drug... never tried it, Coffee's strong enough for me)... reason? Well, they were daft - who'd take a ruddy cat fishing with them in the first place? That had me freaking when I was a kid - real fear of drowning etc. and that cat going in the canal had me 'having a bad do' (the 'do you want to see some puppies?' stuff in the other vids never bothered me - but a cat getting wet was upstetting). What the hell am I on about? Oh yes... just to say how much I enjoyed - and is the music really 'Aphex Twin' - if so, any thoughts of doing a variation on the 'Come To Daddy' vid? Now that WOULD be mad! N.

Yes Mr Baxter, it is Aphex Twin... something from the Selected Ambient works volume two.... The titles to most of his tracks are a load of old rubbish so I can't recall the name of it.
I can't remember now, but I think the track may have inspired me to make the animation. This also happened with the "Ridiculous Clip from UK UFO Documentary" sketch I did too (I think you have seen that). That too is Aphex Twin music backing that one up. It was the random appearance of it on my MP3 player one day that inspired me.

Hey Dave, that was great. Made me laugh a lot. Pity you can't make it with replacable heads...would make a great e-card!
Edit: SPOLIER
Or maybe make a few more with Taz....Taz's birthday, or Taz is poorly/in hospital.....ha, ha dread to think what he could stick his hands in there. You must always include the 'oh, for f*cks sake' as the narrators 'catch phrase' though...that was brilliant ;D

Hey Dave. Nice one, thanks for the chuckle. Better than any attempt i've ever made at animation anyway! Replaceable heads would be great, I've got tons of 'slow witted' friends that would fit in it quite easily ;D

Glad some enjoyment has been had from this. I never intended to reveal it to the world! haha
I can't imagine bothering with another animation. Even though there was hardly any animation at all, it took me a while.... and when was it made, I think the credits say 2004! Blimey. I've not touched animation since!
