Hi, yep its Bartley Gorman "King of the gypsies" book, I read it recently as wanted to read it and then see what Shane and Paddy do with it. This is the guy the film they are making is based on.

yeah I'm gonna hav to get hold of that book! Me, too. When I first heard that Shane and Paddy were planning to write a film about Mr. Gorman, I read up on him online (his Wikipedia entry, a couple of obits, etc.) and he sounded like quite a fascinating figure. I think his story could make for a great movie!

A pretty decent book... and Shane's Dad does get a mention as he was a bareknuckle fighter - Shane also gets a mention for his 'short' for C4's "Battered Britain" documentary on Bartley. Definitely a recommended read. N.

worth reading, mainly for his description of the 'bull punch'
paddy apparently based his RFRB accent on bartley- wish i'd known that when i'd read it... although reading aloud, in accent, would have become rather frustrating for other commuters
