5 Day Features/Flops....

If it all works out OK with the forthcoming 'Le Donk', we (myself and Mark Herbert of Warpfilms) would like to set '5 Day Features' up a bit like a dogma idea. Except that the rules won't be quite so limiting and we aim to raise the finance for them as well.
The rough idea is to make feature films in 5 days with a budget of between £5000 and £55,000 using whatever means necessary to make the film by, hook, crook and hard graftypops. We have made the first one for £25k to prove to ourselves that it can be done and we hope to make and back a great deal more if 'Le Donk' stands up.
The idea is for directors to get total freedom to make a film without the usual development hell and be able to make something more from the hip. Yes - They may not look like a Hollywood blockbuster, but it should create a fantastic new breed of punk rock films that wouldn't have been made otherwise! There will be no genre restrictions or preferences - Docco's, Comedy, Drama, SciFi, B-Movie, Horror, Animation, whatever. We just have to believe in the filmmakers, the idea, the team and the passion.
The end product will be sold for £5 on DVD if it's a success or sell for 5p on the Internet if it turns out to be a 'Five day flop'. Either way, it is a great chance for established filmmakers to let their hair (chest-hair in my case) down and for new filmmakers to make their first films without the usual restrictions.
It won't launch until next year (probably coincide with the launch of 'Le Donk') so don't post up any ideas yet, but I just thought I would put it in the ether, so people can start thinking about it. I for one have always wanted to make a really wank horror film, so I am aiming to make the first 5 Day Flop also. ;D
