Hello Mr Birtwell....
I have actually edited a high-speed version of your film. Would you mind if I let people have a look?
I was so intrigued as to what a speedier version would be like, I just went ahead and did it myself to find out! Now that I have read your further comments, I can see that this high-speed version is pretty much the exact opposite of what you wanted to achieve. ;D

Here we go:
Sympathy for an Epiglottis REMIX
*SPOILER*
I changed the end so it isn't a punchline. Instead I think it now fits really well as the end of the 'journey'.

Liked the original a lot but the remix is the DBs. SPOILERS... Just one thing I thought was unnecessary was the brief glimpses of Mr Scream during the long opening shot. Was this a lack of nerve in having a continuos long shot? But other than that I completely agree with keeping the sequences very short and loved the way they speeded up at the end. Really intensified the scream and made it funnier. Did you double track the scream BTW?

the opening shots should have kept the same, long and tedious, then when the screaming kicked in it was more of a shock
miles better in my opinion when the screaming bits are cut like that, should have stayed at the pace it was though rather than speeding up at the end

*REMIX SPOILERS* Interesting comments there.
I didn't intend to interrupt the opening shot at all, but because I already had the idea of cutting to the second scream just as he is about to scream in the opening shot, I wanted to use the opening scream as an 'echo' of what is to come.
As for the speed up at the end... well I always wanted to do that. Incase you didn't notice the shots speed up from the very beginning. I actually made each scream one frame shorter each time. I started from the end and worked backwards. I also cut out some of the screams that had other noises in... the drumming bit for example.
...and yes... I time-stretched a couple of screams and kept their original pitch, then layered them. One from the beginning, then another from about half-way through.

Much prefer the remix looks wicked. Dont get me wrong the original was really well made and had some really great shots but it just went on way too long for my liking and I got bored by the end. The remix is at about the right length to keep people interested in watching. Good stuff ;D

Hey, nice edit Dave, I think at the start you should have had shorter, almost subliminal cuts for the scream thing... like possibly... 3 frames?! Fight Club Style.
I still much prefer the original... remix isn't as funny in my opinion.

I agree, it isn't as amusing in the remixed form, but that's why I wanted to remix it, because I didn't think the humour was the film's strong point.
