Hi guys this is a little something I got off my chest a few months ago! It is inspired by Wojciech Bruszewski's 1973 film "YYAA". I screened it at the Filmonik open mic film night and it was also selected for the Salford Film Festival. Crank it up nice and loud! Hope you like it. Andy uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NbR-QmKSOEY

I thought this was absolutely excellent! At the start I thought to myself... this is gonna be a long watch... completely took me by surprise. I smiled from ear to ear throughout, laughing sporadically ;D Especially the blender bit ha ha. Some really nice shot ideas here! Ha ha. Really like the idea of the whole thing too. I didn't like the ending... that could have been better/funnier. Also, the cross fades at the start annoyed me... but maybe that worked in the films favour? I was expecting something, then got something completely different. Which I think is the films best feature. Definitely some beautiful shots in there at the start as well. Love how it starts. By the way, that horse mask is awesome. I used one for my... oh 2nd ever short film.. about 4 years ago now! Check it out: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lIjhFlYYzts

This made me 'lol' I liked the ending, seemed logical ;D I wouldn't have had so many seemingly abstract shots and think you could have made it shorter, but then I guess that's not the point. Gonna send this to some folk, probably resonate with a lot of people

Genius. So simple but so funny. Loved the gravy in the microwave. Liked the full range of shots, especially the one which was looking in at the car from out side...how did you do that?
Overall - Fantastic, well done.

Wow - cracking, very accomplished and very well performed, some great shots and great ideas. I think you could have dropped just a few of the more straightforward vignettes to shorten it just a little, I really liked the ending and you could have maybe kept the drumming playing from the moment we saw it on screen up until the phone call - maybe use the drumming to build to a crescendo if that makes sense. What a range of talents though, and the infinity shot of the multiple tv's was really great, as was the bonnet mounted shot.. very impressed by that too! I'm about to forward this to my friends..
Cheers,
Rich

Overall - Fantastic, well done. The gravy in the microwave was the funniest shot by miles for me. I do agree with what someone else said... that it should have been shorter. I think rapid fire cuts would have worked wonders, where you barely have time to take in what you have seen in each shot. Hmm It would be interesting to edit a remix of this.

Cheers guys. This is based on a non-narrative experimental film which I love. That film is just a man in a room screaming for 2 minutes. I wanted to make my own but with my own spin on it. So it's not really meant to be watched for fun. More an experiement into challenging an audiences ability to endure. Although there are some funny ones, its more of a test of endurance and an experiement to test how audiences react to the same sound for that length of time. Have any of you had a smoke alarm or burgular alarm going off for ages and after a while the sound seems to change? You almost seem to climb inside it. Thats what this experiment is all about. And I love watching it with people. They are intrigued during the build up, then the laughs, then they fade, then there is an uncomfortable period, then they hate it.....
If anything it needs to be at least five minutes longer. When I watch it, it just starts to kick in and become some weird abstract, uncomfotable experience, then it ends. I want to take an audience into a new territory! Another five minutes should do it!

I found it really python esque and not just the background to foreground walk, definatly wouldnt be able to handle 5mins ontop of that!!!

Python's University liguistic toss, though, mostly. This is all about visual gags.
I would take 5 minutes more because I'm inclined to continue the stereotype that geordies are intelligent... I mean, hard. Grrr.

It's amazing how many different reactions you can get for a film. You sound like Haneke, testing your audience and all. I showed my girlfriend this, thought she'd find it funny. We have a similar comedy taste..... she hated it. Raised a couple of smiles. "Is that it? Just a man screaming..."

Haha. I'm glad you posted that explanation Andy. I was a bit weary of commenting because it actually annoyed me a fair bit more than anything else, thought I was missing something since everyone else found it so funny. But, since that appears to have been your intention I guess you'll take that as a positive!
Quite an interesting idea that. You're right though, would need to be longer to really push it. I'd like to see an audience watching this over a prolonged period of time, even if I wouldn't want to be one of them! ;D
