Mr Shane Meadows, a most gifted film-making chap the likes of which I haven't seen in a long while, such a refreshing eye for the realities of modern life. So much better than all of that hideous Hollywood rubbish. His work at times reminds me of Mike Leigh (who is personally my favourite British director, so I would have to say Shane is potentially my third favourite after Ken Loach).
And how nice to see this forum, choc full of rich, hearty discussion. In fact, I've just spent 20 minutes laughing out loud at a "product placement" thread - I've never seen fuck written so often or with such stentorian (if there can be such a thing in writing) vitriol. The poor chap who started the thread seemed to regret it once the body blows began.
I love all but one of Shane's films, that being A Room For Romeo Brass. Please don't cyber-punch me for being honest, I just disliked the ending that's all. I blinked and missed it.

Welcome, elcarnicero! ;D Mr. Leigh is my favorite British filmmaker, too, with Mr. Meadows a close second. (Alas, I haven't seen enough of Mr. Loach's work -- just Kes, which was good, and parts of Sweet Sixteen, which looked really intense -- to make much judgment on it.) And of course, you're entitled to your opinion on ARFRB.
