Going through some of my dads old VHS tapes I cannot believe what I have just found. Shanes 10 minutes channel 4 documentary on Bartley Gorman. The old VHS quality isnt fantastic but is good enough to see and hear what is being said.
I have just sat and watched it and have previously read Bartleys book, the guy is certainly a fantastic character.
Does anyone percieve any problems if I put it onto Youtube so some of you guys can see it???

Well.... the lucky few of us which got hold of Shane's home-made collection of short films via the Shane's World competition have had that documentary for a while. None of us have felt it would be wise without having approval from the horse's mouth! I would love to put it up too.... my Youtube subscriber's would probably soil themselves with joy! ;D

That would be great if you could be allowed to put it up. (I'm about to start reading Gorman's book, which I just got today.)

Dam, this makes me less of the few that have seen it/own it! ha ha. I'd happily upload from the DVD i have of it. But I'd feel bad without Shane's permission as Dave says above.

Yes... we are in a pickle aren't we! I mean if we had no connection with with the Meadows website, then I think we'd slap it online without a care in the world. It's our conscience that won't let us! Maybe I'll send Shane a message about it....

I will put it on the DVD/BlueRay disc as an Extra when King of the Gypsies is released. But seeing as that is likely to be a few years before that happens and that it is christmas time, I wouldn't mind anyone seeing it on youtube to get a sense of Bartley and his story.
I am still really proud of that documentary as it was the very first project that I ever got funding for and it provided me with the few thousand I needed to make Smalltime and introduced me to tripods, jimmy-jibs and computer editiing not to mention on set catering! I hope to re-visit the 12hrs of footage that we shot in those five days back in 1995 and produce a longer docco to accompany the release of the DVD.

No worries Dave I'll leave it to you mate and you probably have a better quality version than an old VHS tape ;D
It's a great insight Shane's future film and I still cannot believe how much Paddy sounds like Bartley in ARFRB the accent is spot on.
